I feel that the actual act of masturbation itself isn't sin, it's the lustful thoughts that usually come with it that are sin. If you can honestly say that you can masturbate while thinking about grass growing, then go on and masturbate all you want, because you're not sinning.

As for some of the posts about forgiveness of sin and stuff, I will admit that even as a Christian, I sometimes find it "unfair" that a guy can rape kids, and then later give his life over to God and be saved, but somebody else who never gave their life to God but lived a decent life goes to Hell. Yeah, sure, that is a little unfair. Here's the thing, though, according to my beliefs, this is God's world. He created it, and He gets to determine the rules.
All sins are equal in God's eyes, according to what I believe. Stealing a 10 cent pack of gum from the store is just the same as what Hitler did to the Jews. I can't do a perfect job of describing why this is the case, and I'm not sure if anybody really could, but I'm basically at the understanding that all sin, no matter what it is, is something that detracts from the goodness that God intends for this earth, and as such, they are all equal in his mind.
As for deathbed confessionals of murders and stuff... sure, I'm sure there are some really bad people that ask for forgiveness of sin right at the last minute- but unless they are honestly sorry, and honestly are asking the Lord to come into their life, they won't be saved.
