And that would be why I don't practice a religion. I will never accept that stealing a pack of gum and raping a child are equal. My God is a caring loving entity that sees the good in people, and will punish the bad.

And according to my beliefs, He does. All He asks you do is acknowledge that you are a sinner, ask Him into your life, and try to live according to His will, and all sins, no matter what they might be, are forgiven.

God doesn't have to forgive the sins of anybody, and he certainly doesn't need to offer forgiveness for something so simple as asking for forgiveness from sins... sounds pretty caring and loving to me.
