If you want to go for the reason it is a sin, most religions think that Depression is caused by evil or an evil spirit.

I don't buy this. Never once in my years of going to church have I heard this.

Heck, I battled a fairly bad depression after my first year of college, saw a Christian counselor, and this "view" was never once brought up.
