When he set out to write the book he was an atheist and his intention was to prove the Christian belief system (not religion) wrong. In the process he ended up becoming a Christian. It's not a conversion book by any means but it is a very logical approach to some of the basic questions that tend to frustrate people.
Is this C.S. Lewis's first novel??? Because he was always said to be a devout Christian.
