If it were up to me, posting someone's PM the first time would be a week banning, and if done again, lifetime ban.

I don't agree. This particular instance is a terrible move and a person who does it will get what they deserve (especially because the PM was a supportive one).

I don't want to condone any sort of pile-on mentality and would normally rush to the defense of anyone I saw being unnecessarily piled upon (unless they were fully able to fight back themselves without bringing the forum down). Titan is good at this. He gives as well as he gets and so I don't look twice if people give him grief (and vice versa).

The moderators aren't always here and sometimes the forum self-moderates by keeping the a-holes in check ( See Ambluance Driver comma Ron).

If someone were PM'ing objectionable things such as threats, harrassment, unsolicited imagery etc then I would fully support publicly exposing it because it's no longer hidden from the light.

So, if it's ok to "expose" someones PM that you don't like, what's the point of PM's? If I have a problem with you, I'm going to settle it in a PM, and keep it personal. If I wanted the whole board to see it, I would start a thread.
