-Jiggy- Wrote:The phrase separation of church and state is generally traced to the letter written by Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to the Danbury Baptists, in which he referred to the First Amendment to the United States Constitution as creating a "wall of separation" between church and state.Philly Mike Wrote:krys Wrote:http://www.reuters.com/article/newsMaps/...P520090416
For those too lazy to read the article, this is the gist of it:
"It should not be compulsory for the wife to say yes all the time, because some men have more sexual desires than others," he said, adding that husbands should never force themselves on their wives and the law does not sanction that.
But women do have a duty to meet their husband's needs.
"If a woman says no, the man has the right not to feed her," Mohseni said. The law allows women to work, so they could theoretically refuse sex and support themselves, but in mainly rural Afghanistan most women are dependent on husbands.
WTF???
As I have said many times before. This is one of the main reasons why our founding fathers have stated the separation between church and state.
When religion rules the laws you get effed up laws like this all the time.
I don't mean to get into debate but this is touchy subjects after all. Can you show me exactly which of our founding fathers ever said that church and state should be separate?
Last time i checked the good ol' Mr. Jefferson was one of our founding fathers. (I think we need a different tounge sticking out avatar, this one looks too much like a regular smile)
It matters not how straight the gate, how charged with punishments the scroll.
