Thomas Jefferson's Wall of Separation letter talked about how the government had no business controlling a person's personal religion. That was it.
It's funny how people say our founding fathers wanted religion out of government yet they opened every session of Congress with prayer. Which actually continues to this day. Here is a transcript of the first prayer. That doesn't sound like a group of men that want to separate themselves from God to me. Especially this part: Be Thou present, O God of wisdom, and direct the councils of this honorable assembly; enable them to settle things on the best and surest foundation.
