I'm not sure. Since all religions are differently, I'll have to use one, Christianity, as an example and make this VERY generalized: faith in the absence of proof. Science, on the otherhand: is the quest for truths and establishment of laws. They may seem diametrically opposed, but you have to have faith in something initially in science during experimentation and hypothesis. Its just usually something more concrete than an almighty floating being.
