Year of the Nerd...and beyond

Being a nerd myself I was talking to my wife the other day and we came to the conclusion that 2008 was the year of the nerd.

Video Games: Halo, Gears of War, Guitar Hero, Rock Band, CoD4, etc.
Movies: Batman, Clone Wars, Harry Potter, Hellboy, Iron Man, Hulk, etc.
TV: Heroes, BSG, Lost, Terminator, Knight Rider
This is just a small sample. The box office and ratings numbers don't lie. What an amazing time to enjoy NERD entertainment.

You forgot to mention the big events in Comics, and not just the Marvel DC mainstream stuff.

Stephen King, Laurell K Hamilton, and Buffy are all living in comic shops now

DLC was HUGE for them this year. That and the announcement of GH4 and Rock Band 2.
