First I would like to say that your group did an excellent job with the Free Beer and Hot Wings web site. The update was long overdue. There is an area, though, that could use a little tweeking. That of the podcasts. I have been a podcaster for a few years and we have become accustomed to the segmented format of that podcast. This segmented format allows for more versatility to the listener over the one large file format that the podcast has changed to. I understand that Zane hands it to you guys and you, in turn post it to be downloaded. Is there a way that you could allow Zane the upload it directly so that he can upload a segmented format? This would be greatly appreciated.

not a dumb question, ipods can be a pain in the ass, but i don't see why it won't play it is still the same format.

I just like google reader because itunes has so much other crap loading when you start it up that it is all unneeded.

First day trying the new podcast format = FAIL. Man this is cumbersome to use. I didn't think having to search through the file to find where you left off would be so annoying, but it was worse than I thought. Not to mention, every time I open the file it tells me a different length of time, and seems to be missing segments as well as Zane's hourly intros. Regardless of the media player I used, it just doesn't seem to flow cleanly. Where else do you find a 4 hour audio file unless you've got a book on tape? I really hope the guys address this issue, either on here or on the show, and do something about it.

I know there has been a lot of talk lately about complaining on the forums, and the guys are right because at the end of the day it's their show and they're free to do as they please. But it's a little different in the case of podcasts, because people are actually paying for this service, and they depend on that money to fund a lot of the things they do on the show (i.e. the calendar from last year). Maybe things can't go back to the way they were before, but this format is not working.

That's what it sounds like to me, too. Yet another strike against the website developers. Thus far I am not impressed with them at all.

So let 'em know. I thanked them for their efforts to improve the website, and then told them how/why the podcasters are upset by the new method. I asked them what they might be able to do to at least give us the standard we used to have...all very politely and respectfully. I also cc'd the show. Maybe if enough of us write them...

I guess I could. I'd feel a little funny, though, contacting them to "complain" about a podcast that I don't subscribe to anymore. If I had quit podcasting because of the change in format, that would be one thing, but I quit because I just don't have the time to listen to it anymore.

Day whatever...boycott

I am just frustrated beyond belief at this new system. Still not one positive comment about the unsegmented podcast. How is this "improvement"? I think there have been many examples of what a pain this is for people. So today, I tried to download the segments, knowing that they were supposed to end but praying they hadn't. I still had about an hour of Friday's show left, but I said, oh what the heck and I just left my ipod home to have a FBHW-free day. The podcast has been a big part of my life for the past 2 years, listening in the car, during my lunch breaks, around the house after the kids have gone to bed, but I am so frustrated having to deal with this. It's still a hilariously funny show and I am still undecided on if I will renew or not, but I'm not going to spend 10 minutes at the least trying to find where I left off. I've already decided that I'm not going to buy my sister a gift subscription for her birthday like I've been planning because I know she wouldn't deal with that.

So I went to the break room during my lunch break instead of going to my car to listen to the show. I had to listen to 2 women talk the whole hour about John & Kate Plus Eight OH MY GOD...WHO THE HELL CARES I'll go back to listening to the show tomorrow, but I'm watching closely to see how this plays out. We all payed money to listen, and so far it seems that ALL of us are frustrated by this. If there is someone out there that does like this new system, please say so. I'm just frustrated that it seems like everyone is being ignored. If there are people out there that do like it, then I'll shut up and put up with it.

I'm pretty fine with it so far, although it is the first day but my mp3 player saves its place so I don't have to spend to much time searching for where I left off. I just find which segment I was listening to and click resume and off I go. That being said, I could see where it would be pretty f-ing aggravating to have to go through the whole file to find where I was. Anyway I may change my mind later on but I seem to like it so far

They said that essentially enough people complained that they went to the people who handled the podcast and asked them to change it back. They said it could take a few days before they get it tweaked.

they should just make both options available, the large file or the many small files, that way those who want to download the old way would be able to and those who want the new large file format. I'm not sure which way I would rather have it but it would be nice to have the choice of either

I'm very glad to hear news of going back to the old podcast.
This new format had good intent, but is definitely flawed. I liked to skip over replayed segments (WHWT, Friday Top 5, etc), but now i just have to roughly ballpark it.
With the new format, I expected no more duplicate segments, but go figure, on Monday I heard the "Wish I didn't know blank about my dad" (including the porn mags) bit twice, assuming therefore lost a segment.

Thank you FBHW! This news seriously made my day. Not sure why there have been so many repeat segments lately, but hopefully going back to the old format will fix this. I can deal with a few more days of this, knowing that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
