| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01  | I was reading a thread the other day, I don't remember exactly which one, but someone (I think it was DIG) asked what made the good old days so good here at OA.com. It made me think a bit, everyone always refers to the past and how great things were, but usually it's in a sort of nostalgic context, everyone says I love the excitement or the atmosphere, but very few people actually put a finger on what they specifically enjoyed. This isn't a call to arms or anything, the last few weeks have shown a resurgence in traffic, a renewed vigor in posting, and it's reminded me a lot of how things were a year ago. But what exactly do you miss? Not the feelings, but the origins of those feelings. For me...I miss Fez & Gooch's daily sig pics, I always got a laugh out of instant cut & paste jobs they used to do while the show was going on.  I believe in the Faith... that can save me. I believe in the hope and I pray... That someday it may raise me... above these badlands Over The Limit | ||||

Now a days most members seem to blend together in their personalities. This means there are fewer and fewer distinct personalities. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | i miss -actually GOOD fights in FC.classic dramatical ones like kid vs. straw into straw vs. spuds into straw, panther and sean vs. buttmunch, shotgirl and fmb, OR classic fun fights like when grk called out am -threads who'se purpose was teh funney, like gooch and fez's pics and some of gonzo's...interesting essays -lots and lots of posts(i want to come home from school and see a page of new posts in OT again, not just half like its been lately) -the hate.i miss the absolute, unchecked hatred some people showed in the past.even though the nicey nice policy has basically fallen out of practice, there isnt enough friction between vets  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I miss when there wasn't a heavy level of gossip, rumor and innuendo b/c of all the balktalk going on between the IM/cliques/etc. When a post was just a post, and not connected to alot of periphery crap. There was a carefree sense of posting and being on this board, that wasn't weighed down with these emotional, sometimes conniving anchors, where ego's fester out-of-control, and one can stay silent for weeks, yet there will be a bevy of rumors attached to them anyway. I miss when there wasn't alot of emotional and mental baggage dragged along into what was supposed to be merely the presentation of opinion and ideas, and when people did not sit in judgement of the individuals posting them. I miss when a post was just a post, and the board had a lighter feel. I agree with Froy that there is a better level of use and an influx creating a new dynamic. I'd like to see some of the few "fakes" I see begone, and just let the chips fall where they may without people trying to rev the motor with manufactured posts. As for people, I miss CBH's hell-on-wheels posts, where he aimed his insult bazooka at an unsuspecting asshead. I even miss Upuauat/Tenbat/JMB...b/c this board needs it's "heels", and they were good ones. I miss some of those that we drove away b/c it made good posting and conversation.  Here's a tip that will save you alot of grief and time... Don't believe in and depend on anyone but yourself. | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | Things I miss/missed: -- I miss seeing the great work from all the sig pic masters (Fezzy, Gooch, K1d, Seph, et al) -- I missed being witness to the "infamous" Bang Party (yes, even though those of you who actually lived through it hate it immensely, you can't deny that many of the folks who are on the Board now, for good or ill, came because that event put the place on the map). -- I miss the cliques (not that silly pseudo-clique war which got rid of them all). Sure, everyone else seemed to think the place was better without them, but my feeling has always been the Board is one clique composed of devout O&A fans, and then smaller groups formed from that with more particular interests. That's simply how humanity works. -- I miss Teenslut's naughty stories -- I miss the great fights folks used to have in FC, if only as an excuse to hunt out pics of good food and alcoholic beverages to post up. -- I missed on 2 (TWO!!11) different occasions in slow-pitch softball. (TOG) -- I miss when TOG still meant something to anyone but me. :P -- I miss when Buttmunch would use those huge acronyms, and we could spend hours trying to dechipher the damn things. LMMFAOBIKNOYWBATDT,ONECATM. -- I miss the days when we would post on the Board's Chat threads while simultaneously talking to each other real-time in Foundry Chat (as opposed to one or the other). -- I miss when Ant would post a response to some jackass' comments, and use an insult ("mindless asscunt" comes to mind) that I couldn't wait to get an opportunity to use on some unsuspecting asshole. I miss when the board was a lot lighter and not filled with pages and pages of fucking drama and petty bullshit. I miss the warriors of oa.com that used to kill all in their sight, and destroy the f-tards. I miss most of the mods that left us for whatever reason they had. (Sean, NjDude, etc, etc.) I miss me being a loley newbie and not giving two shits about this place. Because now im just a crack addict. I miss Tankgirl! I miss the classic morons(Robdeek, DanaDillon, CacaSmooches..you know the rest) I miss the daily sigs and O and A actually discussing this board.
