Yes, this part is just the same. As well as the Creativity, Body, Logic, Cooking abilities that you have to build. You need to build them up to cash in on some of the moneymaking opportunities there are. You can build up your home as a buisiness by making people pay for food or putting in pay doors at the various rooms you put in. You can even conduct transactions between sims.

Basically my home's built up to the point where people come in and stay for the day, because most of their needs are catered to. They can make their money or build up their skills.

You can also shut your place off to everyone and be a hermit, but I think that's a waste of the environment.

The control of your sim is not automatic. He'll bitch and moan if he needs sleep, but he won't go to bed.

They can close their properties off if they want, but most are open. The THING is.. if your in someone elses house, you can't control the fridge, you can't build, you can't decorate, you basically can't change what is theirs. Most people are kind enough to feed you though. Why wouldn't they? People would leave if you didn't. Same as relationships. You can make friends or enemies.
