My brothers and sister are all spending hours to travel to the Cape for Wednesday night. My oldest brother's wife and three kids (one of them my godson) will also be coming down.
We will spend most of the weekend together. Maybe some of us will go to a movie (maybe even all of us). Some of us will go out drinking in the local bars and see some townies we went to high school with.
My mother will be cooking all day Thursday. We'll have a big meal spread out among two tables. We'll all laugh and make fun of each other as well talk about current events and what not - maybe TV or movies. Just random stuff. There won't be a cross word or feeling, and then after dinner, all the kids and my dad will clean up, while also cracking wise at each other in good spirits. We'll do this so my mom can get some well deserved rest in the living room. But she'll invariably help us clean and/or direct us to where things should go because she's just that kind of lady.
Then maybe some naps, homeade desserts, go visit the aunts/extended family who live in the area. My father's family is/was very close in that they all grew up in Boston, and had a summer house in Falmouth. When the got older, two of his brothers stayed in Medford, while he and his two sisters moved to Falmouth.
Basically, it will be a great weekend, filled with fun and laughter and too much food, and we'll all feel just a bit saddened when it ends on Saturday/Sunday.
Yet another reason to be jeaulous of me.
