OpieAnthony.com Board FAQ

  • Why can't I post, it says that my username hasn't been confirmed?

In order to post on the OA.com message boards, you must provide a valid email address when you register. Before you are able to post, you will be sent a confirmation email, providing a URL link that must be clicked. If you do not click that specific link, your username and password will not be granted permission to post messages. So click the link, don't reply to the email.

  • I forgot my password, how do I find out what it was?

Click this link: Forgot my password, or go to the Login Page and click the proper link, and your info. will be emailed to you.

Signature pictures should be no larger than 500 pixels and 30 kb. 500 pixels is defined by adding the height and width. Example: a sig pic that is 200x300 >>> 200 + 300 = 500. Signature text may be 4 lines if you have a picture, 6 lines if you do not.

PLEASE DO NOT START NEW THREADS ABOUT YOUR SIG PIC PROBLEMS. That is a good way to label yourself, in the members' eyes, as a chew toy.

If your signature is too large you will be asked by a moderator to shrink it, if you fail to do so, your status may be changed, the sig could be removed by a moderator, or worse...

To put a signature picture in your posts, first you must upload the image to a server. Make note of the image's online URL, click the link to View/Edit your profile. In the "signature" form, insert the following code <IMG SRC="http://www.your-host.com/yourdirectory/file.jpg"> (Note that this URL is only an example, your URL may vary - you will need to know exactly what it is.),

You must host the image yourself. Do not hotlink your signature picture. If you do, youll be asked to take it down. Many free hosting sites no longer allow hotlinking - you will need to find one that does.

Sig pics can be tested by clicking the "View Your Profile" link after editing your profile, or in the Official Testing Thread.

  • What is the difference between a General Discussion and an Off Topic Post?

General Discussion refers to relevant Opie & Anthony topics. It is for threads discussing matters of the show, topics that are currently being discussed on the show, etc. All other subjects of conversation belong in the Off Topic category, which is broken down into sub-forums: Gaming, Wrestling, Music, Sports, and The Junkyard. It is important to keep posts in the proper forums in order to make navigation and discussion easier and more productive, so make an effort to be aware of where topics belong, especially when starting a new thread.

  • People tool on me for no apparent reason, what can I do to gain respect?

THINK BEFORE YOU WRITE! Most people who get abused and insulted receive their humiliation because of their own inability to follow the general rules. Be intelligent and humorous, consider these discussions to be like any other conversation you would have in real life. Be productive and contribute intelligence and wit to the discussions, don't try too hard to be funny or impressive, just act naturally. Remember,  nobody likes a character.

  • I posted a thread but now its either locked or has disappeared. Why?

If your thread has been locked that usually means, either youre a dumbass and posted something you really shouldnt have, (ie: porn or spam), or there are already a multitude of prominently displayed threads about the same topic. Multiple topics are fine, but there is such a thing as overkill.

If your thread is missing, first look in the other forums for it. It might have been moved because it was posted in the wrong place. If you still cant find it, the thread was deleted, which means there was something especially wrong with your post. Feel free to ask a moderator why the thread was deleted and try not to make the same mistake again. But please do not post the exact same thread again, and do not post a new thread asking why the first was deleted.

  • Can I be banned from the board?

Make no mistake about it, you can be banned from posting in the forum. People are not banned randomly or without due cause, so for the majority of you there is nothing to worry about. You can and will however be banned for the following reasons: Spamming, inciting arguments or infighting, posting pornography, or causing general trouble. You may also be banned if a mod has warned you not to do something (whether that warning is in a post or in your status) and you continue to do it anyway.

  • What does my title mean?

As a member of the OA.com message boards you are automatically given a status based on your number of posts. The more posts you have, the better your status will be, Hanger-On, Psychopath, Board Regular, etc. You may also be given a special user title by a moderator. If you are an especially good or bad user you will be given a custom title that identifies you. Good members are given respectable or funny titles, bad users are given demeaning and insulting titles. DO NOT ASK TO HAVE YOUR STATUS CHANGED! Moderators will change your titles as they feel fit, requesting new titles will only result in your gaining of a less-desirable moniker.

  • Why are some threads in blue?

The blue thread rating is used to designate an Official thread. Official threads are announcements about policy, board sponsored contests, official gatherings, etc. Odds are that if it is in blue, you should read it, regardless of whether or not you want to take part in the discussion.

  • Why can't I read "Behind the Scenes?"

For the simple reason that you are not a moderator or administrator. This is for private discussion among the management ranks of OA.com. Don't ask what is posted there, don't even try to guess. It is not for public viewing or public posting, so don't even try.

  • Do Opie & Anthony actually read or post on the boards?

Yes, almost every member of the O & A show had read or posted on the boards at some time or other, some more regularly than others, and yes IAMANTHONY is Anthony! Opie has never posted on the board to the best of our knowledge, so don't bother asking for his username. This does not give you permission to irritate Anthony or any other guests and associates of the show. They are here for the same reason you are, but always keep in mind that what you post will be read...

  • Where can I go to chat with members in real-time?

We are sharing a chat room with Foundry Music, by clicking the Chat Link at the top of all pages you will be directed to the Foundry Music & OA.com chat rooms. Here you can converse with visitors of both sites. But be warned that the same rules that apply to the board apply to the chat room, failure to act in a suitable manner will result in your being evicted from the chat. You must create an account to enter the chat room.
