| O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00  | i was talking to grumpy about it and we think its time to maybe start up a adoption thing like we had before. i did notice that froy mentioned something about it in a post this week so thats when the wheels started turning. what i want to know is what you guys and girls think about it. do you think its a good idea or not necessary or what? if we do we have to change the rules a little. only qualified people get to adopt. things like that, no offense to wg, i love her, but we dont need her or skank adopting people. they barely have enough posting sense for themselves let alone imparting wisdom to others. anyway this is all prelim stuff. just wanted to know what you people thought. :) and i make the rules so move on out or you can die like a fool try to figure out what my moves gonna be come on over son, why dont you ask me don't you forget there's a price you can pay cause i am the game and i want to play | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I have to admit, I thought it was a great idea the first time. I think it would help a lot of new folks out. I also agree that only authorized "Mentors" should be allowed to adopt. I ALSO think, however, that moderators should NOT be allowed to adopt, for two, TWO reasons: 1: So that adoptees don't get it into their heads that since a mod adopted them they have some kind of immunity, and 2: So that there remains an impartial third party (namely us) in case any disputes or quarrels should arise. | Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | well i agree with magus that a mod adopting may cause some conflict. But I always thought the adoption program was a great idea. But when people like JMB, Doughboy, and WG started mocking the idea by making it a contest of "how many newbies can i adopt" that ruined the whole idea of the porgram. Plus i only got one application from a newbie and he was banned before i could adopt him so i could care less lol. I don't think sean ever got an adoptee either. But it should definetly be implemented once again with some basic ground rules. Most importantly setting a limit on the amount of adoptees as well as to who can adopt. The FAQ is great and so is all the help that people are offering but most of these fucks are too lazy and they need a nipple to suckle on. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: May. 00 | corpse while i agree with you in principle, i think it could work, we could steer newbies towards these "designated" adopters. posting their names and all and saying something to the effect of if you dont choose an approved adopter then its frowned upon, i know its going to be impossible, but we can at least try that and adapt to what happens afterward. its all about implementing acceptable rules. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Feb. 01 | I like the idea, as we start geting plugged again, we're going to need to make the members productive quickly in order to keep things running smoothly. I think the best way to go about it, would be to make a list of say 20 - 30 users who would be acceptable mentors. Email them about the new idea, then let newbies sign into a new thread where these 20 - 30 people will adopt them for a span of say 2 weeks. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | To keep the "Official" feel to this, I think it's imperative that we make it possible to identify approved mentors, so those looking to be adopted can feel comfortable that management approves of the person who adopts them. One of the reasons I say this is I see Just Jon adopting newbies in the GD thread.. yet I don't see his name here as an approved adopter. Ergo.. I think we should either post a list, or better yet (so it can be easily seen) put something like "Approved Mentor" in their status's. I am now going to post a reminder that adopters have to be approved by Froy or Opak in that thread.. but I think this subject should be considered.  NO! I am NOT a Goth Dude!!
