Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70	...somebody stole his sig pic... this should be a lesson to the lot of you. you can't just link a pic from some odd site as your sig pic. it's stealing their idea as well as their bandwidth. have the common decency to alter the pic in some way and host it on your own site. it's best for everyone. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70	Oh trust me Froy, with the amount of traffic my site was getting from hosting sigs alone, I know what hotlinking is. Just posting your sig in a few threads on this board can generate 5000+ direct file requests in a month. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	'Cause it's not the sig pics that are causing the problems... It's the people who are directly linking to pics on other sites that they don't own. The easiest way around it, if there's a pic you like.. is to DOWNLOAD it from the site you find it on.. tweek it a little bit.. then upload it to your OWN personal hosting account. Banning sig pics in general isn't necessarry, MOST folks put their stuff on their own locations.. not only that.. but sig pics are used to help identify people, maybe give a little hint about personality.. they are, in all essence.. a part of "who" we are on this board... It'ld be like cutting of a limb.. Then again.. one fairly knowledgeable person once said: "If thine eye offends thee.. pluck it out" So maybe you have a point.. though I would rather it was a last resort. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	I am a changed poster. I will no longer use sig pics. I was hoping a mod, could add to my status that I am a bandwidth thief. I should be treated as a worse criminal than O&J for stealing sig pics. Or anything you can think of that would be funny. I don't care. Seriously though, I had no idea about this. I think this is actually good in a way because I am sure many people did not know this. I e-mailed the guy and he was cool. I promised to delete that pic from all previous posts (naked woman, with her butt shaking). Thanks Froy for all of your help yesterday.
