| I just saw A.I. I can honestly say it was one of the best movies I have ever seen. I totally didn't expect to see what I saw tonight, not on that level anyway. I wont ruin it, but the special effects were un-fucking real. This is something people will be talking about for a very long time to come, and not just for the special effects.

| Thank you. I was hoping this movie would be good. The trailers look good, but it was questionable.

| I was actually hoping it would suck. I can't stand Speilberg and the idea of him making a Kubrick film really pisses me off. If it is as good as you say it is I might have to break down and watch it.

I only know what I see in ads. A robot boy trying to be real and feel love. My first impression was the story line could be similar to, Pinocio,or D.A.R.Y.L.

| I just saw the movie last night and I was bored to tears!! It was one of the most useless movies I've ever seen. I'm a big sci-fi fan and like most of the Kubrick and Spielberg flicks.
I thought the movie dragged on too much and it seemed like they were trying too hard to make it "weird". I was reminded of too many other movies and the movie just didn't capture my attention.
Don't believe the Spielberg hype.

| I too don't think Spielberg's as good as everyone makes him out to be. I thought Saving Private Ryan was only good because of the opening sequence and the rest of the movie blew. I also think Spielberg does his movies for the attention, awards and love of the people than he does it for the art. he's a media Hu-ah.
I too was pissed off when Spielberg said he was doing a Kubrick film because there's only one person who should do a Kubrick film and he's dead. Kubrick and Spielberg have vastly different styles- Spielberg for the masses, Kubrick for the elite. And I still don't buy the "Kubrick wanted me to direct this" story. However that many reviews are completely opposing (some think it's the best movie ever, some think it's torture) is a true testament to Kubrick's legacy.
That being said I will probably see it tonight at 11-ish since I like seeing the late showings.

My only gripe was that the movie was sooo freaking long. I didn't go out until 1am! The movie started at 10:30p |

| I am going to see it on sunday. I hope it's as good as you say. As Kid said the trailer looks real good. It's not like bicentennial man is it? Cause that storyline was too fucking gay for my standards. I would not expect it to be like that. Ecspecially with Spielberg directing it. He really makes great movies. That's why Jewish people run hollywood. :)

| From those of you who've seen A.I. already....I want to know is the feel of the movie more "Kubrick" or "Spielberg"?
I've love Kubrick's films (except for that cluster F**K EYES WIDE SHUT)and think that Spielberg has always been overrated as a director.
Will a Kubrick fan enjoy this movie?

| what a dissapointment rather then waste my
time saying why i didnt like it ill tellya what
happened that led to it.....before anything
lemme clear things up Kubrick and Spielberg
have been talking about A.I. for years Kubrick
tried to get Steve to make it saying its right up
his alley....now after Stanley died Steve picked
it up and went ahead with it....now who wrote
this story? well its first based on a short story
called Supertoys Last All Summer Stanley
went off and wrote a 99-page treatment based
on this...now you might think that the Blue
Fairy and Pinnochio parts were
Spielberg.....your wrong it was Kubrick who
kept going back to it probably invisioning it like
a modern retelling of that who
knows....anyways what happened to all of this
simple Spielberg simply pussyed out of going
full on Kubrick style and told it via his usual
way somewhat sappy and what not he never
put any faith into the audience during this film
whatsoever it felt empty no real emotions flew
through me i didnt care for David and his
journey cause it didnt *click* nothing seemed
to work (so i lied bout not tellin what i thought
bout it) oo yea those werent aliens......there
really advanced robots

| Well, I am not going to rant, because it has already been done, but I didn't like it, no sir.
It was way to slow and way to long. There were some moments. Watch for the Chris Rock cameo, although why someone would make a Chris Rock bot in the first place escapes me.
The first quarter and the last quarter of the movie were way too long.

Overall, it has more of a "Spielberg" feel than a "Kubrick" one. The movie itself can be divided up into 4 distinct parts, and the first part definately has some Kubrickesque moments. Anyone who saw the movie will probably agree that the dinner table scenes were classic Kubrick, and his influence can also be seen in the set design and editing. The third part also had a Kubrick feel to it, while the second and fourth parts were mostly Spielberg style, and I thought it was some of his best work since "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". But if you're a fan of Kubrick, you should like the movie. I did.
Oh, and I liked Eyes Wide Shut...

| I saw it tonight and I thought it pretty much blew. WAY too fuckin long. Boring as shit. The Gigolo Joe character was stupid and added nothing to the story. At the end, when I was supposed to be touched, I felt empty and wishing the movie ended an hour ago. What a waste.

| T.O.D. - Although your review was a trifle
stream-of-consciousness, you gave me a good sense
of what they were trying for in the movie. I am
boycotting it simply because I cannot figure out how
Spielburg got to be one of the most-respected
directors in Hollywood. Well, yes I can, (E.T., Close
Encounters, Jurassic Park) but I do not like it. Your
review was quite descriptive. Ever think of reviewing
movies professionally?

| You knew it was coming... I liked it for the most part, enough to recommend it. Was it too long? Yes especially supplemented by the huge coffee I drank before and couldn't get out to pee so there was actually a half hour left in the movie when the "Oh my god take out my bladder" feeling came over me.
Anyway onto the movie let me say that Teddy was by far the most audience friendly, audience loved character I've seen in any movie possibly ever. I liked Gigalo Joe, I found him amusing and would have liked him better if he had been more twisted as Kubrick had wanted. Barrell was right in 1/3 Kubrick and 2/4 Spielberg and a bit Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome at the Flesh Fair though I thought I felt more Kubrick than Speilberg. Haley Joel Osmend played creepy very well (first part). I think Kubrick would have done a better job at casting and directing all around but then again Kubrick's a God, Spielberg's an imposter (nice to see others who think Spiels is overrated).
Also how much more gooder would the movie have been if it ended before the ice (I'm trying to keep it vague enough that people who saw it know what i'm talking about but i'm not ruining it for those who don't)?
Did anyone see the teaser for The Time Machine, kind of weird to see Guy Pierce looking all 1800s after Memento (which I still consider best movie of the year though AI is in my top 10).

| I am a bit hesitant to spew my unfiltered feelings about A.I. due to the fact that people who liked it will immediately disqualify any brain cells and legitimate subjectivity I have on the movie. But instead of writing two pages, just two points.
1) I can now probably draw Haley Joel Osments eyes in such vivid detail with my own eyes closed after seeing that movie. If they took out every scene zooming in on his , often teared up, eyes than the movie would have only been slightly longer than the extended version of that Britney Spears Pepsi Ad that aired during the Super Bowl.
2) Remember kids you can't spell WORSE THAN AIDS without A.I.
