| O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I used to say the same thing Amy. What exactly is so Final about it? After playing FFX though, I'm saying I hope it never ends. What a game! Now, I know FFXI is only going to be an online game for the PS2, but does anyone know if FFXII will go back to single player? I'd hate to think that FFX is the last Final Fantasy I'll ever play.

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Ok.. I've had to explain this to so many people I'm really getting sick of it. Each and every "Final Fantasy" occurs in it's own setting, there is no link between any of the games WHATSOEVER as far as Story, World, or Characters go. Final Fantasy 8 is NOT a sequel to Final Fantasy 7. While all of the final fantasies share certain things in common, such as items (Pheonix Down has been the "raise the dead" item since FF1) and certain monster types, and some shared themes, there is no direct relation between any of the games. They have nothing to do with each other. The games are called "Final Fantasy" because they are fantasy stories who's major plot thrust is the prevention of the world's destruction... but it's NEVER THE SAME WORLD!! The only time there was ever a direct connection between 2 different Final Fantasy games occured between FF7 and FF tactics, and that was actually allocated for within the stories of the two seperate games. As far as things like repetative characters names(Biggs and Wedge), those are cookies, little jokes between the programmers and the players, nothing more. Repetative spell/item/summoned creature names are there to keep the feel of the games intact and familiar.  No! I am NOT a Goth Dude!!
