O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	It depends what type of games your into.For sports dreamcast is better right now.Except for Madden.Fighting and action goes to PS2.I mean MGS2 sometimne this year.FFX etc.TEkken tag SSX.Which is better i'd say PS2

Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 01	PS2 is much better. Even if it currently doesn't have many worth while games, it's only a matter of time before some real master pieces are made. Besides, you can play old PS games on it with enhanced graphics. Also I heard that X-Box will play Dreamcast games. Maybe it's not so dead after all. That R2 unit is off the hook, yo!

Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 01	Dreamcast is a great system. 1. Itâ€™s got more gooder games than PS2 2. Itâ€™s got online games 3. The is NO f-ing difference between DC and PS2 regarding graphics...expect for 2 or 3 games (SSX) 4. Itâ€™s too bad sega killed the Dreamcast 5. Sega makes GREAT games. And all you tools will see that, now that every console will have a sega game in them. PS2... you can kiss my ass. XBOX baby... XBOX!!!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	Ok on the opening screen were it says Browser and system configuration.On the bottom it says version hit triangle.On the version information screen comes up then hit triangle again.Next is the playstation driver screen 2 choices Disc spped and texture mapping.You can change those.Disk to fast for faster loading and texture mapping for SOME games for alittle better quality graphics.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	Except for Giraffe Raper and ArchKain, it seems like you guys are all fucking morons who bought into the huge media hype, spent your $300 (maybe more), and are now trying to justify that by convincing yourselves that PS2 is actually a better system. News for ya.... to a real gamer, it's not. Why? 1) Okay, sure, it's got backward compatibility. Reason: Sony didn't want to stop sales on PSX games and units, seeing as how it's the best-selling console ever. BUT... if you've got a PSX already, do you really need this backward compatibility? Answer is obviously no. 2) DVD player. Who doesn't have a fucking DVD player? In my house, there are actually FIVE. Two are TV players, and three in computers. Any computer you buy nowadays, unless you're a cheap motherfucker, has one. You can get a TV player for under $200. Even under $150. And you can easily get a DVD-ROM for your computer for under $100. The DVD capability of PS2 was meant for one thing - stimulate the DVD market... IN JAPAN. There, DVDs were selling for the equivalent to $70 US... now they're coming down, because of PS2. America never had that problem - DVDs don't cost much more than VHS tapes.... and for the extra $5-10 you get INSANE picture and sound quality and most of the time, special features. Here, it's cheap enough that you didn't need a $300 gaming console to get DVD. 3) Amazing PS2 games. Hate to break it to ya, folks.... it's not all it's cracked up to be. They're nice, but they're not any better than the DC. I'm not saying PS2 is worse, but it's certainly not so far superior (actually it's on the same level) that it's worth paying an extra $200 to get. Not to mention - PS2 load times are better than PSX, but DC load times are virtually non-existent (except for SOME games - Hydro Thunder sticks out in my mind). Rush 2049 has incredible graphics and NO load time. And no choppy graphics either. PS2 has been known to get a bit choppy (my friend noticed incredibly choppy, messy graphics in NHL 2K1). So.. my theory is this. People with brains that know the value of money buy the Dreamcast. People that are MTV zombies, follow every trend and media-hyped fad (example: Limp Bizkit), and have mommy and daddy pay for everything... those are your PS2 owners, for the most part. Wanna bash me? Think I'm wrong? Fuck you. Just try to PROVE me wrong. Let's not have a childish debate like "no way.. you suck... PS2 RULES! Only your mom would buy a DC!" - I won't respond to bullshit. Logic-in-training: DJPumaNYC - he hasn't asked me a damn thing past the first day so graduation may not happen...

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	FTL you are right, except for NHL 2K1. That was a dreamcast game. I am thinking about the Dreamcast for a while but now it seems like a steal. You get a whole bunch of gaming goodness for such a low price. But I have other things to attend to first so right now a high end PC and a PSX is just going to have to cut it. But I just hate those people that are loyal to a certain brand. Yeah sony products kick sega's ass. My processor is the best because Intel rocks. O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	Ok we dont get it?Lets see who gets it when sega next year discontinues the dreamcast.Just like the saturn,Genesis,Sega CD.Yes i own and play dreamcast.Yes the graphics are about the same on PS2 and DC.But in the long run every DC owner will get screwed when sega stops producing games.And then your gonna buy a PS2.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00	I own both systems, and use both...I prefer my Dreamcast when I play sports. Personally Madden has nothing on NFL2K1. For fighting games, PS2 is fantastic!! As for the other games, driving games are great on both systems, as are the rest of the games. I personally don't have a stand alone DVD player, cause I knew that I could get a PS2 and have a kick ass game consol and a DVD player in one. I think both systems have great points to them, and are basically equal. Too bad I think PatCooper is right though...might be hard to get new games after this year for DC Previously adopted by Joey Big Arms.

Hanger-On Registered: Mar. 01	2 crucial points I want to make... 1) By the time they stop making Dreamcast games, which will be anywhere from a year to a year and a half, there will be superior systems out... XBOX, Gamecube anyone! So PS2 will NOT be in the top list of system to get. 2) Since sega will be third-party software company now... Everyone, including PS2 owner will have Dreamcast games, and like it or not, they will be GREAT games. Point being that Sega makes Kick ass games. They are right up there with Capcom, Square, Konami and RARE. Sega will infect every system like a virus full of great quality games.

So what the DC is a better system or as good as a PS2? What's everyone gonna have in their homes in a year? DC's when Sega isnt making them anymore? Its like a PC versus an Apple. Apple is a better computer but what are you using in your office? 99.9999% of you are using PC's. DC has a handful of games left to come out for it and THAT'S IT. Then all those cool DC games you like so much will be on(guess what?) a PS2 console. And it wont matter whether DC was better, because PS2 is going to be the standard. The Xbox? When's that coming out? Didnt I hear about that, like, a year ago? And maybe its just me, but I have an adversion to anything Microsoft is involved in. Its bad enough they had to ram their operating system down my throat. Im not gonna buy a game system from them if I dont have to, thank you very much.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00	Okay, tools. Here's the deal. Why is Sega discontinuing the DC? Not worth it to them. They make make SHITLOADS more money by making games for the other systems rather than making their own system. Production costs are fuckloads lower. A CD/DVD and a jewel case cost maybe $.50 together to make. Another bit of pocket change to ship. But when you make a full system, there's production involved... more materials to use, more machines to run, more people to pay - more money lost that could be profit instead. Sega knows that the US is where the real money is, and they know that Sony is a marketing machine... they know the US media will get behind the PS2, and later XBox and GameCube.... so why compete when they can make more money WITHOUT competing? And the PC vs. Apple thing.... dude, have you used an Apple lately? Well when you're done rebooting 50 times a day, talk to me about Apple vs. PC...
