O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Lindros took a dumb penalty at the end, then the Jackets pulled Denis and scored with 69 seconds left, with the 28th ranked powerplay in the NHL, at the same time, the Rangers should have played better defensively, 40 stops by Righter on 42 shots is not bad at all, but 42 shots is too many to face, the D has to pick up the slack. It's time for players other than Lindros and Fleury to step up and help this team score, Columbus had 2 points written all over them, and the Blue Shirts only got 1.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: It wasnt his fault. It was one of about 3,000 shitty calls that have gone against the Rangers lately. But Im not blaming the officials. The Rangers have nobody to blame but themselves for their pittiful performance the other night. It shouldnt have gotten to that situation where Columbus was hanging around at the end. They better kick some ass tonight in Columbus, because they got 2 big games at the Devils and Islanders coming up after that, and now the Islanders are starting to get hot again.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Rangers now in midst of a free-fall. They need to do something soon, or season could quickly go into toilet. Flyers look mighty powerful (and it kills me to say that)

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I cant really complain with the effort tonight, they are just not scoring goals and they are just in one of those funks where they cant get any break at all. They better snap out of this and snap out of this fast, a win in the Meadowlands tonight could be a good way to snap out of it.

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Is it safe to say that we have officialy hit a low point in the season? Just awful play as of late. Blackburn didn't play that badly, just no offense at all. C'mon, it's the blue Jackets, we made that goalie look like an allstar. I'm gonna go out on a limb here, but I think Glenn Sather has to bring in another goal scorer. Nothing major, but something. I'm also think Ulanov and Karpa, are not the big aquisitions we thought they were gonna be. And in closing, Mathew Barnaby is just god AWFUL!!! VOS IS ABOUT AS FUNNY AS OPENING A LETTER CONTAINING ANTHRAX AND GIVING IT YOUR BABY!!!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: Who thought they were big acquisitions? Ok the Rangers need to break out the 3rd Jerseys tonight. Its all about image, and we havent worn them at all during this streak. So break them out please equipment manager. Oh and they could also score some goals, thats also a problem.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: I'm awfully tired of these two, especially Ulanov. Low sits Kloucek because he is not being aggressive enough. Well, he is a kid (21 or so); Rangers aren't going anywhere with Ulanov, so why not let the youngster learn? I'll accept an 8th place finish if it means younger players are learning and there is a future. Hell, try Mottau also - who cares if he is another "offensive" defenseman; our "defensive" defensemen don't seem to be keeping the puck out of the net too well.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Good to see the scoring snide is over, but they are going to have to keep it up. They are going to need to score goals to beat Washington on Saturday. Washington has smacked the Rangers around this year, and if the Rangers Defense doesnt step up and play a smart defensive game, then they will be in trouble again, and Oates will be setting up Jagr and Bondra to light the lamp.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I don't know what you guys think about Larry Brooks in the NY Post, but the other day he hit the nail on the head. NY Post article To hell with limping into 8th place. Rangers are playing way to undisciplined. Let them play the kids more - Kloucek, Malholtra, Barret Heistein, etc. This message was edited by PeterDragon on 2-2-02 @ 9:59 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Kloucek and Malhotra have been playing more. And I agree with getting rid of old pieces of shit like Ulanov and Karpa, and bringing up Mike Mottau, but this team NEEDS to make the playoffs. I dont care if they limp in to the 8th spot or not. 4 years in a row they havent made the playoffs, this isnt a situation like with the Knicks where they would be better off not making the playoffs, The Rangers must make the playoffs.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Don't get me wrong - I want the team to make the playoffs (again, unlike the Knicks who I hope tank big time),and I understand building includes getting playoff experience; I just don't want it to mean playing the Ulanovs of the world too much, or worse yet, trading youth for more crap. Hell, I'd even trade Richter if we could get very good young players. Sather has done a pretty good job - I didn't like the Lindros deal, but it seems ok so far. Sather hasn't given too much playing time to Neil Smith's Youths, but he has brought in some of his own.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | Well, the Rangers pulled off a win against my slumping Pens. Atleast the Rangers took advantage of a struggling Penguins team. Barnaby scored the winner, it was a good game played by the Rangers.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Rangers need to win these types of games (and the one just before vs. Atlanta). They have no room to spare, even though they rarely make things easy. Defense still too pourous against a team without Lemieux. If they can pull off a win in Dallas they'd go on break on a positive note.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Alright Im not very happy right now. I have 2 grips and Ill get to them now. #1- Ron Low. Low must go. How come time after time we have home games against big rivals like the Islanders or Devils, and the team is flat for the first 10 minutes of the game? That is inexcusable. Low has to have this team ready to come out and play and they play like they are sleep walking. They turn it on late, but the first 10 minutes killed them against the Islanders and it killed them tonight against the Devils. My major beef is with Mike Richter. Maybe Ron Low on this one as well, I dont know who is to blame, but Mike Richter has to be in nets for this fuckin game!! I dont care if its the first game back from the break, look at the standings, look at the matchup, This was a HUGE FUCKIN GAME!!, I dont want to hear this olympic excuse garbage, because Martin Brodeur played more games in the olympics, throw in the fact that he has played far more games this year than Mike Richter has, throw in the fact that the Devils play the Flyers tomorrow night. But guess what, Martin Brodeur had enough to get himself in goal in this Big Game!! No offense to Dan Blackburn, but in a Big Game, which this was, Mike Richter needs to be in goal, and 3 of the 4 goals that Blackburn let in were stoppable, and Gomez's game winner definetly should have been stopped. You want to Rest Ricther? Rest him on Thursday, so he has 3 days off heading into the Flyer game on Saturday. Now he will play Thursday and then play an Afternoon game on Saturday, so he will be more tired for the Flyer game then he would have been tonight. And then the Rangers have back to back games on Monday and Tuesday. you cant take games off, especially against the Devils when you are 2 points behind them in the Standings, and holding on for dear life. And as long as the Rangers are flat to start off games, continue to play no defense, and have guys take games off, and have Theo Fleury getting himself thrown out of games, they are going to be in serious trouble. Its frustrating because with some serious direction on this team, and with a few tinkering and removal of horrible players like Dave Karpa, who is good for 2 things. 1. Taking a Penalty every period. 2. Nothing., This team could be really good, but they arent.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | quote: hey that reminds me of a team i know! as for richter, maybe ur right, but to compare his situation with brodeur is unjustified, seeing he got surgery twice and no comments on fleury? owell happy for my team to come up big

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: That has nothing to do with playing last night. I bet Richter plays on Thursday and Saturday afternoon and that will be less rest than this would have been. But the surgeries wont be an excuse then. Im all for resting Richter. But at the right times. If you would have left Ricther play tonight in this crucial game, then give him Thursday night off, then he would have 3 days to rest for the Philly game. Now either he misses another crucial game against Philly on Saturday. Or he plays 2 games in 44 hours. Now has that a better situation, than if he would have played tonight. And if Richter plays tonight, the Rangers at very least get a tie tonight, and likely win.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I'm also frustrated by effort vs. Devils, but I'm not sure Richter would have been the difference. I could go either way with that - I want Blackburn to get more minutes, but Richter is top notch goalie now. I'm not thrilled with Low, but is it all his fault that team is flat? Rangers miss Messier or Graves kicking some butt in the locker room. Lindros needs to step up in this capacity, since Leetch has shown he can't do it. I'm more upset at Low with his defensive rotation. Someone has to introduce the concept of Team Defense to this team. Fleury is getting frustrating to watch. can be great player, but he's got to get himself under control. No excuse for getting tossed last night. If ref's are really on his case, he's just got to live with it. Bitchin' ain't gonna help. I hate to say it, but Isles are showing the guts Rangers have been lacking. By the by, I think it about 60-40 Richter finishes season with Rangers. Knick inept play may make MSG keep him to make best run at Ranger playoff, but given his contract status, I keep getting feeling that if a decent deal develops, Sather will send him out.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | This is typical Fleury, after what he's been through already. I wasn't surprised that he snapped first game back, he should just be happy with his stinkin' medal ;) He's a great player, but he's terrible off of the ice. I just hope he doesn't do something really stupid like killing someone or something like that.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | last nights game was horrible. why did they wait so long to bring grosek up? he looks like he can play. I don't know where it goes from here, when Lindros doesnt play well the rangers have no chance to do anything. The rest of the team is awful. I can't take Nedved anymore, what a waste of space. York is MIA scoring goals. If we lose tonight Low should be gone let Sather coach the rest of the year.
