America has this thing where you don't, as a rule, wipe out the whole damn country just because you had someone bomb you. And, of course, that can change. But I really think that they would make an official announcement, and they'd have proof of who was really to blame. | ||||

I was thinking about all you New Yorkers today....spent a lot of time quietly hoping you were all okay (even you Tequila). :) It's been a pretty rough day though because my ex-girlfriend still lives and works for the govt. in DC (Raeburn building just along side the Capitol...one of the Congressional office buildings there). I was freaking out all day and had to keep a straight face and be as informative as possible with my students. Alomst broke down a few times about the whole mess. The real pisser was when the buidling principal came around and told us all to turn off our TVs?! I couldn't believe it. History in the making, an opportunity to teach the moment....and she took it away from us and all the kids. My shock and fears were replaced with anger. But enough of that.......I hope you guys are well and my thoughts are with you. Good luck, and I'm even more convinced it's time to move to Canada now. No O&A there though. Guess I'll have to stay here and tough it out with the rest of you guys. Send a prayer to our heroes in the nations police departments, fire departments, military, and everyone else who's a hero in their own right by helping to eleviate the blow of this tragedy in some way. And.............it's good to be back. | ||||

I know he can't make a big official statement, but where are his calming words? His uniting words? I was more comforted by my local news radio (KFI AM 640) when they assured us that they would, no matter what happened in LA, keep broadcasting the latest. | Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | don't use too much water unless it's a necessicty because they need it to fight the fires it's weird to watch the news and see the backdrop of the city skyline with the towers still there it's even more strange that we speak of the world trade center in past tense.. this is something that i never IMAGANIED that i'd live thru. one of my good friends brother is a marine, and he had called to tell his family that he's going into Delta (something, I can't remember the term i'm sorry) and that he will be in meetings all day about what they will do. | Psychopath Registered: Apr. 01 | No matter what you or a group of people, or whoever "blame" their actions on, people are killing people. It's sick, sad, terrifying. Regardless of reason, if a human being takes another human being's life, especially on such a grand scale, there's something more wrong than religion, something more wrong than movies, music, something more wrong than propaganda, even. This is a violence that lives in people, it sits there, and it breeds through families, it spreads to small children, until they are seeped in it, coverd, enveloped in this hatred. It doesnt matter why, it matters only because it is. Just remember that if your neighbor is Middle Eastern, no matter what his feelings on this, he wasn't personally responsible. This wasn't just about "God telling them to do this." This was about kicking America right in the gut, and then shoulder-checking her, then pissing on her. God doesn't tell you to do shit like this. This is something that you can't explain, something so dark inside of someone that you can't see it unless it's expressed like this.
