Psychopath Registered: May. 01 | All I can say is the men and women involved in the rescue efforts are the truest heroes in this catastrophy. To the NYPD, NYFD, and all others involved, As a nurse, I am in awe of your work because I know in the face of what is the worst disaster to ever hit U.S. soil I would crumble. As an AMERICAN, I am honored to have you represent us to the world. It is your efforts and strength that others see, and now associate with us as a nation. Be proud. You make us that way.

Everyone from the Police Officers, Firemen, EMTs, whose job it is to protect and serve us, to the hundreds of volunteers who rushed down to the scene to help out, the entire country is lucky to have you here for us in our time of need. Our prayers are with you and your families and we hope as many of you may be saved as possible. For those who have died, may you rest in peace knowing you died so someone else could live. I think I can speak for everyone here when I say thanks to people like you we can be proud to be Americans. And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there. O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

I just found out last night that they are missing. If there is anything that you can do I know it will be done. God bless you all for doing whatever you can.

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | I'm a dispatcher with FDNY in Manhattan and I was working when all this happened. I lost at least 8 friends Tuesday morning. I want all my friends on this board to know that I appreciate all the love and support that has gone out to me and my comrades. Keep the faith gang.....We're gonna get back on our feet and take care of business. I am still too stunned to really be coherent. Just pray for the Brothers and Sisters out there who answered the final alarm. And pray for those who went to work for the last time. It ain't easy being greasy in a world full of cleanliness and you know, all that other madness.

Without their hard work and their suffering(both physical and emotional) to help out their fellow human beings we would be nowhere.I have lost two NYPD buddies in this tragedy and two others are helping the rescue. Psychopath Registered: Jul. 01 | Those of you know me know I'm a Clevelander and not one for praying or silly shit like that. I'm also a teacher, and since I couldn't donate blood due to a new tattoo and since I don't say prayers (since someone's radical religious beliefs are what got us into this mess in the first place), I had my students write thank you, sympathy, or encouragement notes and cards to the DCPD and FD, NYPD, NYFD, and the rescue crews and Red Cross volunteers. Those people are doing a thankless job and could use a good pat on the back and a thank you after working a fourteen hour shift where all they might ever find are body parts, and not survivors. I'll be sending those out tomorrow to the appropriate Red Cross offices in the two cities. Wish I could do more......but this was my way of letting those guy know the city of Cleveland is pulling for them 110%. This message was edited by McBourbon on 9-13-01 @ 10:33 PM

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Hey Guys, I just got back. Was at Ground Zero for the last 36 hours. I can't describe what's going on. It's too much. To me it looked like pics of Hiroshima. I'm a seasoned professional & I've been in shock!!! I just saw pics on TV from the air which better show the site. The cooperation, though, was absolutely unbelievable!! The Firefighters & Rescue workers are incredible. I literally had to force several that were injured to stand down & take a break. Most of my job entailed keeping these guys going. As far as the operation, we are still considering this a rescue, so all those with missing friends/relatives, we're not giving up!!! Also the EMS, PD, & National Guard Troops have done a FANTASTIC JOB!!! Nothing but praise for all the individuals who assisted me!!! If you want to help, start collections for food, clothes, water/drinks, AND GOGGLES & RESPIRATORS (the asbestos level is dangerous-if in Manhattan, keep windows closed). PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE SITE!!!!!!! YOU ONLY MAKE OUR JOB DIFFICULT & MAY GET HURT!!! Also, you WILL BE ARRESTED & POSSIBLY SHOT(no joke). I know how frustrated many of you feel; believe me, as professionals we all feel the same!!! But there is NOTHING THAT YOU CAN DO THERE & IT IS DANGEROUS(I was there when buildings started to collapse)!!! Also, if you really want to help, go to the West Side Highway (above 20th street) and clap for these fantastic souls (it actually brings tears to their eyes)!!!!! In addition, you can start BIG collections of blankets, cots, clothes (esp. underwear, socks, shirts). ALSO, ANYONE WITH ALOT OF EYEGOGGLES & RESPIRATORS, THESE ARE NEEDED DESPERATELY. Also, anyone with missing friends/relatives who have pets; either contact the SPCA to go to their homes to rescue the pets or go yourself!! One piece of news that I can give. Anyone who goes to Stuyvesant High, you won't be back for probably months. BTW, It's a real nice place. DR. Buster Hymen "Spread Your Legs & Say Aahhh" [email protected]

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | These men and women, their hearts swelling so large, their power so infinite - we all owe them a debt of gratitude. An EMT from Jersey I know went up on the first two nights of the tragedy and said what he saw was beyond description. These men and women have had their hearts ripped out of them. One firefighter was taken away because "he had no hands left." This guy was just digging through rubble with his hands. His gloves disintegrated and he just kept digging. The skin on his hands was tearing from its bones and he just kept digging. This man had to be DRAGGED away to receive medical attention. The police, firefighters, EMT's - they have always had my admiration. I think that to a degree the REAL "thankless" job that they do is their DAILY job. Protecting us all and saving our lives, with few thanks other than pissed off people complaining about a traffic ticket. This country has rallied around these brave souls, just as we will for those who protect us on foreign soil, or servicemen and women. ALL of you on this board, civilians included, have my eternal thanks for all you are doing right now. You truly make America great, and the greatest country in the entire world. Thank you all. Thank you to all the brave volunteers who brought us all together as a country, and thank you to those of you brave soldiers who will fight and have fought for our country. We are a free people because of your efforts.
