O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | I've seen Kid Rock live a few times, he belts out "Suck my dick" loud and clear. Although most of the general public has been led to believe Mr. Brownstone is about some of the band members' heroin addictions (mainly from the disinformation provided by the band in order to garner street cred), the song is actually about Mr. Frank Brownstone, the head instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Los Angeles. In the late 80s, Rose was a student of Brownstone's (who do you think taught Rose his snakelike hip-swiveling?). Apparently, Rose did not pay Brownstone for the lessons. This song is about Brownstone's constant, yet futile, attempts at reimbursement.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Yes, we should all be greatful for Run-DMC because they salvaged Aerosmith's career. How many times should I listen to "I don't wanna cry" or "Pink"? I just think that Metal and Rap come from two different mentalitlies and emotions that mixing them/crossing them sound crappy. Sort of like mixing Ethnic Japanese music with Country and Western. And least with Thrash, punk and metal had some emotional similarities. And maybe I just hate the fact that there are no more Rock and Roll stations any more, but there is one that will play the Beastie Boys every hour and call themselves a rock station. Thus I listen to talk. "I use you for good board I'm not your friend" Guided by Dryblood.

The driving forces behind rap and metal are alot more similar than different and once you get off the rap sucks thing you realize that. Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | I gotta agree with Brownstone. I get the same emotional response from rock as I do from hip hop. Theres always room for straight ahead rap or rock but I dig the mixture of the two just as well. The Beasties are so hard to compartmentalize. They are so rock at times and so hip hop at others. I hate to label music cause often its impossible to do. If it sounds good, listen to it, fuck the politics. ________________ Charcole brickette?
