"Burned 'Survivor' Kept Pain From Kin NEW YORK (AP) - Software publisher Michael Skupin, airlifted out of the latest outback ``Survivor'' episode with severe burns, said he kept his injuries a secret from his family. Skupin, 38, said that except for some redness and minor scarring, he was completely healed, although ``I haven't built a fire since then.'' In the episode, aired on CBS Thursday night, Skupin briefly passed out and fell face first into a campfire he was tending to. He was burned on his hands, arms and face. Skupin, who called his recovery without surgery a ``miracle,'' said on CBS' ``The Early Show'' Friday that his family was surprised when they watched the show. ``Nobody had any idea,'' said Skupin, from White Lake Township, Mich., a Detroit suburb. ``They said, `How in the world did you keep this from us?''' Cameras showed Skupin, shouting in pain, running from the fire and into a river to cool off. CBS, which had warned viewers of the graphic nature of its footage, showed skin peeling off his burned hands. Medics showed up and Skupin was taken out by helicopter, first to a hospital more than an hour away, then to Australia's best burn unit in Brisbane, he said. ``Survivor'' executive producer Mark Burnett ducked a question about whether his cameras caught the actual accident. But he said he took care in editing not to be too gruesome. ``There was no reason to be overly gratuitous,'' Burnett said. ``We left that kind of stuff out.'' Skupin said it took him about two days before he realized he was injured too severely to continue playing. ``It was a mourning period,'' he said. ``I still wanted to play. I felt like I had let the tribe down.'' " ________________

Do you know how much that fuycking hurts? He will be spoon fed for the next month. All the skin on his hands was burned off. Have some sense and dont post stupid shit.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01	What kind of a person laughs at that, seriously, that had to hurt far worse then anything that has ever happened to you. That totally sucks now for the game. Those wastes in the other tribe (jerri, amber) get to come in on an even match 5 vs 5. That totally ruined the game. Its bigger then it looks......

The worst part of this, and i think he would agree with this, is that he was not allowed to continue in the millon-dollar challenges. O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00	Out camping one time a rock from the fire-ring fell over. One dick picked it up and put it back. A second later, he grabbed his hand and ran off. Nobody was watching or realized he burned his hand on the rock. Laughed my ass off when he wasn't looking. By the way, anyone know what that green thing was the medics made him breath through? Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01	That inhaler thing looked like it was somewhat working. I got a nice 2nd degree burn once large blister on my hand, this a-hole pushed me near a fire and my hand touched the rock. It hurt Its bigger then it looks......

Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01	I was told that by a friend who is a Medic that the green "kazoo" like thing was a Morphine inhaler, something that is not approved of in the US, but in the Australian outback there is no FDA, so if it works they use it. I saw a co-worker get sprayed by gas while sitting in a full size Dodge van with the engine cover off, when he realized it was gas he turned off the ignition and something sparked and lit him up, he came out in flames dropped and rolled, his pants melted onto his legs he was burnt real bad ! man I feel sorry for anybody that gets more than the occasional cigarette head falling, or the accidental brush against a Catylitic Converter if you work on cars like I do..... Psychopath Registered: Dec. 00	I am not aware of any EMS services in the US that carry morphine inhalers. However most paramedic level services in the tri-state area do carry morphine for injection along with other narcotics like valium. Trust me burn victims in the US get the best pre hospital care possible. "Cry havoc...and let slip the dogs of war!"
