I find myself tuning to the SportsTards not only because they have the energy Howard once had (not quite the talent), they also demand that the callers have energy, as well. And with the Sports stuff going on these days it somehow makes sense to listen to them. It also sucks when Stern calls WNEW programs a "regurgitation" of his own show and accuses all on-air talent nationwide from news stations to christian radio of ripping him off. Today's show was decent, Gilbert Gottfried makes for great radio, but the rest of his guests drag the show down a lot.  | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | An Essay By Skeet Slambone I'm 24y/o and I listened to Stern in the morning as long as I can remember. I used to stay up late to watch his TV show on WWOR every time it was on. (Snapple anyone?) I kept listening through High School and I would even make it a priority to get up early in the summers to listen to part of the show. I guess it was around the time he was filming his movie that I grew tired of him. I've seen a lot of people say it was when his movie came out that they lost interest, but for me it was while he was filming. And its not like I turned on him and hated , I just made it less of a priority to listen. Now I whenever I put it on I just don't find it entertaining. As far as hating him? Yeah, I'd say I hate him a lil. The reason I think a lot of us hate him is because O&A really connect with their audience. They go out and have drinks with us, they show up at board parties. (well, Ant does) To call O&A "friends" would be psychotic, but I think all of us feel closer to them then we would to anyone else in their position. Which is why Stern fucking with them pisses me off more then something like that should. That is the reason I couldn't give 2 cups of monkey piss about him, plain and simple.

| Psychopath Registered: Oct. 01 | Ok, here's my theory, people still listen to howard in the morning because, well, its howard. he's a legend. he did pave the way for guys like O&A, but its pretty obvious he's past his prime. howard is ok to listen to in the car on my way to work when i'm half asleep, but O&A on my way home from work on a friday makes my weekend. They make me laugh out loud, stern hasn't done that in a while... | ||||

Within the last year, I decided I could take or leave the show, but since there was nothing else I'd rather listen to, I tuned in to 92.3. But lately I'd rather listen to static. Why? Two words: Celebrity asskissing. I mean, isn't he ASHAMED to interview a guy from IN SYNC and kiss his ass? And how pathetic that he had Kid Rock on the show! For me, it started going downhill when he had that blond frankenstein guy from ET on the show, and then was nice to him, after badmouthing him for years. Everyday its nothing but celebrities- its like a talk show with bad celebs. No edge. But, thank god we have O&A. Holy S! | ||||

I KNOW you don't believe that. Its just a desperate desire to believe that Howard's claims are true. ANYTHING with the least bit of similarity is now reguarded as copied or stolen. If Howard uses direct O & A terms he's just jabbing at them, but when they do something similar in a roundabout way they're stealing from him. And if he's any good at all anymore, and is the master like he claims, he'd be kicking ass like they are. Why isn't he? Do they steal so much that there's nothing left for him? He always claimed that the originator would always win. So what's he afraid of? Why isn't he doing it better? If their show dilutes his then it should do just that, DILUTE it, not make him go against everything he preaches and cause his show to seemingly trudge through mud and get as much criticism as it has gotten. You can't have both sides of the coin. Its like the other day when he had Stamos and his wife, and his girlfriend talking about their stupid ass slumber party. People half his age. They were saying it was the most fascinating segement of the show, EVER! WHAT?! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Parading around with a bunch of "B" list celebs in their underwear? I thought it sucked. He is TOTALLY out of touch with what his core audience USED to be. Ooooooooh he had his girlfriend on, big fucking deal. A woman, I might add, who's half his age and with him for his money. Like he says about Imus and every other older, rich and famous guy with young pussy, PATHETIC! Does HE think she enjoys fucking an ugly old man with a small dick? The hypocrisy is getting rediculous with him and everyone who's listened for more than five years. I do have to disagree with you on one point Sarge. As much as he's changed, Howard is NOT stupid. He HAS managed to outlast every other dj that does the format, with pretty good numbers. Its the fans that still buy it, after all that's happened, that are stupid. And keep in mind, only a handful of people, compared to his audience, have heard the boys and their arguements. This is why he doesn't mention them. He knows they're the real deal. He never had a problem mentioning dj's before, and I've never heard ANYONE rip him as good as O & A. Its like the greater part of his career was, when you have the truth on your side, you win, its your ally. When you don't, your sunk, or sinking like he is. Sad, but true. | Psychopath Registered: Nov. 01 | I can't say i hate him either. i listen to him a good amount, mainly becuase hes on the same station O & A are on in my town, and im to lazy to find anything else on the radio, and all rock stations in D.C. suck ass. (at least if you are into real rock) so i tend to listen to stern more than i care to BUT... THE thing that made me respect for him was when he talked to eric clapton on the phone. I remember him bashing the hell outa eric clapton about playing blues now and getting out of the "cream" style rock n roll. And a few months ago, he got eric on the phone and kissed his ass so badly, it made me wanna yack. hes such a vagina | ||||

O&A have original bits and ideas that are NOT copied, and if they went head to head at this point, O&A would win. Plain and simple. You think Infinity is keeping them from the morning? Bullshit! Howard is. They are syndicated in a bunch of cities now, they are known and respected in the radio industry, referred to as the "It" boys of radio on t.v., and they scare the shit out of Howard. Why else wouldn't he mention them? The, "I'm not going to make them famous!" excuse no longer applies. Besides, he's never been afraid of mentioning dj's before. He used to THRIVE on it for Christ sake! He had them gagged by Infinity until even THEY realized they were taking off and was worth the risk to piss off Howard. THAT is the most remarkable thing. Though I don't condone the bailing of loyalty on Infinity's part, O&A are powerful enough to make demands. They're THAT good! Infinity knows it or they would have let them go. Think about it.
