I never accepted them, until one time my curiosity got the better of me. It turned out to be a prisoner looking for a pen-pal/phone whore. Of course, he was in prison for a "minor" marijuana charge....ha ha....couldn't hang up fast enough!!  Thanks to Austin for the sig pict | ||||

| Psychopath Registered: Jan. 01 | A few things you can be doing to protect yourself: 1. Contact the prison that your secret admirer is writing from. Advise the staff of the situation. In some states, you can be notified if an inmate is going to be released or is up for parole. 2. Contact the website to make sure that your addy is removed from their system. Most keep logs of their users, so you can also find out from them who shared your information (unless your ex is a crafty hacker)via the IP address. 3. If any of the letters have what you judge to be a threat, notify the local police, get a report filed, then get an order of protection. I know papers don't generally stop violence, but if you are on parole/probation the last thing you need is to be dragged back based on a violation from someone you never really met.
