For his sake, I hope things will be better. I just wish I could do more to help him. I guess he just needs some time. If so I'm certain he appreciates your sentiments.. if not I'm still sure he's better off having friends like you who are willing to help.. but I then feel truly sorry for you for having more than one friend going through hard times and pain right now, but no matter the case try not to feel so helpless... simply BEING there for them is plenty of help.. | O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | I want to thank you Straw, and many other people on the board. I myself haven't exactly had the easiest time of this game so far. And it doesn't seem to be getting better any time soon. I do want to say though, that it's nice to know I'm not alone. I look around in my life and see so many people that aer on easy street (living in one of the wealthiest counties in the country doesn't help). Not that money is happiness, but that is a part of my problem right now. Not having enough. Oh well, that will change, but it's the other emotional shit that is hard. And to see that there's others out there with the same problems helps. The other night you said something to me straw. It was right after our group got out of the resteraunt. You turned and looked at everyone and said something to the effect of "How can all of us get along so well?", and "Without the board, none of us would be hanging out". Yes, you are correct. We wouldn't, but I personally feel closer to many of you then to some friends that I have had since Jr. High and HS. I don't hold back here, I do share my personal life here. FUCK YOU ALL for saying this is just a message board. Jeff, that goes out special to you because you say that often. Don't take that the wrong way, I have no problems with you, just your view that this is only a message board. It may have started that way, but it has changed into something so much more. And I for one like it. So to Straw, your friend is lucky to have somone so concerned. I just wish I had more friends like that. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guest room. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, "Things aren't always what they seem." The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field. The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die. "Things aren't always what they seem," the older angel replied. "When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it." "Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem." Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every out come is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later... Some people come into our lives and quickly go.. Some people become friends and stay awhile... leaving beautiful footprints on our hearts... and we are never quite the same because we have made a good friend!! Yesterday is history. Tomorrow a mystery. Today is a gift. That's why it's called the present! I think this is special...live and savor every moment... This is not a dress rehearsal!  One looks everywhere for something to lean on. One is charmed by the hope of having found it. It turns out the harsh facts are scattered with a rude awakening. | ||||
