thank you oas for actually saying something that makes sense. i love how everyone suddenly becomes a political expert in these situations. for all of you proclaiming what would have happened if gore were pres, you're being silly, nobody can possibly know what would've happened, probably not even gore himself. i'm not particularly well informed myself, but to say that it's good we have a republican president at this time is ridiculous. tony blair is head of the labour party in england, that's basically the equivalent of the dems, and he was all ready to start the bombing way before gw finally gave the go ahead. so, anyway, i think that's all i have to say, enough with the speculation already.

I wish I could remember more details, but wasn't Gore the environmentalist (when he was veep) going to shut down some mill in PA because the townspeople were getting sick? He promised those people the mill will be shut down, and it still is going today.

Another thought that maybe would be an interesting topic, next month, on the 16th or so, the Muslin holy month of Ramadan begins. They aren't supposed to eat or drink during the day and have to pray all the time during the entire month. Will the US suspend attacks? If we don't will the support of "Muslim allies" be lost? Is the Taliban trying to drag out this conflict to see if the US would attack during Ramadan? Someone suggested to me that the US planned to have everything done in Afghanistan by then, but it seems like there will still be a military presence at the time. ?????
