42) You've pondered, "Maybe basketball would be more popular in New Jersey
if the Nets weren't here."

How true........

quote:

68) You watched "Mallrats" and said, "I've been to that mall!"

Obviously not written by a Kevin Smith fan OR by someone who lives in Jersey. Eden Prairie Mall is in Minnesota. Watching Clerks and saying "I've been to that Quick Stop!" might have been better...

67) At least half the people you knew in high school went to Rutgers.

Sick. They did. Many dropped out, too, or are doing badly. And the other half went to Raritan Valley Community College.

65) Your big class trip in elementary school was to Morristown.

Morris Museum ROCKED.

quote:

47) The Garden State Parkway doesn't freak you out at night.

That freaks people out at night? Pussies.

quote:

36) You only go to New York City for day trips.

Yeah. EVERY day. It's called work.

quote:

28) The Jets/Giants game has started fights at your school and/or local bar.

At my high school it was Rangers/Devils that started the fights.

quote:

25) You live within 45 minutes of at least three different malls.

Try three in a 20-minute range, and I can't even count how many are within 45.

quote:

5) Z-100 used to be your favorite radio station, now it's K-Rock.

Okay, fucking guilty. But this is only because Z100 used to play a mix of the club bullshit and regular stuff that you could listen to. You could change the station back then. Now it's a shit-fest ALL the time. That's why it's off my dial. And Milo, DHA? Are you nuts? Granted, they play good music, but I swear they play more commercials than music. Every time I turn to it, it's a commercial. Wasn't worth it anymore, so they dropped off my dial too. Only stations that I've got left that I actually use are 102.7, 95.5, 96.5 (80s out of Philly), 97.5 (another PA station, next in line to drop off the dial if they don't get better), and 92.3...

quote:

2) You think people from South Jersey talk funny.

Many do. A southern drawl, as if they're actually from the South. Minus some of the racism and the idea that they won the Civil War.

Hey Ya gotta love NJ.
Whenever I go out of NJ I flip out at the places don't make a good Porkroll, egg and cheese if they make one.
Besides that It's not Gay-Crock I listen to. It either 95.9 WRAT, or 89.5 WSOU if I'm not listening to WNEW.

Just remember, New Jersey is where the weak are killed and eaten. If you're born in NJ, yur attitude is given to you at birth.

What makes you look over here?
What are you, queer?

FTL, Eden Prairie Mall was the Mall of America, but the outside of the dirt mall was on Rt 1, till it was knocked down and turned into a big ass movie theatre. So maybe that's what they're talking about.

Jon - I doubt they were talking about the Dirt Mall... hardly a mall by any stretch of the word...

And Eden Prarie isn't the Mall of America. It's near the Mall of America, and Mallrats was filmed just after the Mall of America opened, which is why they were able to shoot in a real mall and it was so dead all the time in there.

You're right, my bad. Brain fart. I remember them saying in the commentary that the mall was going under because of the MoA, so they got to construct all their own stores (My fave was "Rug Munchers")

Far too many of those hit too close to home. I'm wondering if they were tailored for Keansburg.

Same thing with me, MrQuotes. I'm buying the Special Edition. I've read about how much crap is going to be packed into it, and usually Kevin Smith does a great job when it comes to special features (the Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy DVDs showed that)... personally, to me, it's worth paying the money to get all that.

Actually, that was not a mall at all. It was the US 1 Flea Market, and I used to love that place. I even worked there for a short period of time.

You know why Jersey has all the toxic waste plants and New York got all the lawyers?

Jersey had first pic.
(insert rim shot here)

Nice Amy, I'm a Joisey transplant. Had enough of the stench of NYC to last me a life time.

This dog is so old, I remember when Giants Stadium, Meadowlands Arena (Fuck the CAA name), and the racetrack were nothing but meadowlands.
We used to go there to shoot pheasant with guns (yes, real guns).

When I was 12, the first year the Giants played at the stadium, we used to sneak in at halftime to watch the second half of games.

Ah, the old days!

When WNEW isn't on, f KROC, I listen to WRAT...

You know someone is from Jersey when they still insist on calling the Arts Center, the Garden State Art Center, not the "other" name....hey, I still barely remember to stop calling the Continental Airlines Arena the Brendon Byrne Arena.

And BTW, I thought a couple scenes from Mallrats was shot in a mall up North, although I can't remember the name....but the hockey fight scene in Chasing Amy was filmed at the Ocean Ice Palace in Brick, NJ (I was there)...
how bout you are from NJ if you have ever met Kevin Smith or Jason Mewes in a bar/store?

I've seen the Ice Rink in Brick...
MOST of the stuff from the movies happened in real places in the Red Bank, Middletown, Leonardo, Highlands, and surrounding areas. And of course, there was the Chasing Amy stuff in the city (example: Meow Mix is a real club on Houston St.)...

As far as a Mallrats shooting "up north", all I can think of is the ol' "Dirt Mall" (Rt. 1 Flea Market - now a Loews Cineplex) or the fact that the actual mall they were in was located in Minnesota.

I've never met Kevin Smith or any other person from the movies - not randomly anyway. I did, however, meet Kevin around the time Chasing Amy came out - there was a screening of it at Rutgers. After showing the movie, Kevin did two full hours of Q&A, then signed stuff for the stragglers (myself included)...

(70) You know the answer to the question "You're from Jersey? What exit?

That old gag.

You gotta love a state that George Carlin names an album after:
"What am I donig in New Jersey?"- George Carlin

Here's one for the northerners in the group. I remember when 287 stopped in Boonton and you had to drive up 202 through buttfuck egypt to get into Rockland county from Morris County. There was also no connection from 17N to the thruway and you had to pray you didn't get stopped in a speedtrap in fucking Sloatsburg (the home of the retards).
