O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jul. 00	From what I understand, the most common cause of kidney stones is dehydration. Spend a lot of time in the sun without enough fluids and your urine crystalizes into stones. So, the best defense is to drink A LOT. Particularly things that make you piss a lot. Water, Cranberry juice and, my favorite... BEER, are all excellent kidney stone prevention tools. Long Live the "Syndication Underground"

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01	Well having had the punishment of passing 4 of these evil mothers I can tell you if there was a choice, get me pregnent please. Birth is at worst a matter of hours. Stones can last for days and often get stuck requiring surgical removal. And the surgical procedure is going in (and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where they go in from) with a little basket and clamp to grab the stone. The pain is not that bad when the stone travels it's last foot or so. The pain is when it starts to move out of the kidney. It is a jagged crystalized piece of calcium and it tears up everything in it's path. The pain in the back and side is the worst pain you will ever feel. If you would like to experience something similar, ask someone to take a sledge hammer and wack you in the lower back with it. It won't be the same, but close. On two occassions I was doubled over in pain so bad that when I got to the emergency room I was green. So to all you pussy woman that will cry when you give birth, pffffft! And the one's that the nice nurses gave me were useless. I've never had a stone so I can't say for sure which is worse. I agree with the statement that the vag is made to accomodate a birthing, but the exit is the easy part...it's the endless hours of excruciating labor pain leading up to that(back labor is like having a Mac truck repeatedly run over your tailbone). In my opinion, no one wins in either one of these situations-they pretty much equally suck. Where's your Milf mustache? ;)
