| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | What is gout? Gout is a kind of arthritis caused by too much uric acid in the joints. The acid causes joint pain. Who can get gout? If you eat a lot of foods that are rich in purines, you may get gout. Some of these foods are salmon, sardines, liver and herring. You may get gout if you're overweight, drink alcohol or have high cholesterol. Men have gout more often than women. Some medicines may cause gout, such as certain diuretics ("water pills"), niacin (a B-complex vitamin), aspirin (taken in low doses), cyclosporine (brand name: Sandimmune) and some drugs used to treat cancer. What is a gout attack like? It may be sudden. It usually starts at night, often in the big toe. The joint becomes red, feels hot and hurts. The joint hurts more when you touch it. Other joints may also be affected. What should I do if I have a gout attack? The sooner you get treatment, the sooner the pain will go away. Your doctor can prescribe medicine to stop the joint swelling and pain. You should rest in bed. Putting a hot pad or an ice pack on the joint may ease the pain. Keeping the weight of clothes or bed covers off the joint can also help. With treatment, your gout attack should go away in a few days. You may never have another attack. What if I don't get treatment? If you don't get treatment, a gout attack can last for days or even weeks. If you keep having more attacks, more joints will be affected, and the attacks will last longer. If you have gout attacks for many years, you may develop tophi (say: toe-fee). These are soft tissue swellings caused by uric acid crystals. Tophi usually form on the toes, fingers, hands and elbows. You may also get kidney disease or kidney stones. Over time, the bone around a joint may be destroyed. What can I do to avoid gout attacks? Your doctor can prescribe medicines to prevent future gout attacks. These medicines can wash the uric acid from your joints, reduce the swelling or keep uric acid from forming. You should lose weight if you need to. If you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol, get treatment and follow a low-salt, low-fat diet. Stay away from alcohol and foods that are high in purines. Drinking lots of water can help flush uric acid from your body. knock, if you have the gout, which I doubt. It doesn't sound all that serious. If you don't, I'll give you this, it was a good disease to fake. Since it would be hard to prove or disprove. Bottom line, stop being a pussy. You fucked up, admit it and go on. Don't blame it on anything or anyone, just admit it.

I also explained the tough time im having with this gout. I have been getting attacks for over a year now and the doctors couldnt figure it out. They finally came to the conclusion that it is indeed gout. the acid levels in my blood are very high. I have had attacks almost two weeks now in my left foot. From my toe to my ankle the whole foot has been swelling up and hurting really bad. Oh and why the hell would I make up Gout to gain sympathy or respect cmon man i would have gone for something much bigger than gout. Anyway kid just stop trying to start shit. I dont know if your kidding with me or not, but if your not. Stop starting shit. It takes one person like you to come in and ruin a good thing. Its people like you who dont allow the people who fucked up to change. I read your posts on this board and you act as if you are the best thing since sliced bread. I have no problems with you just with the way you act. But like I said Im not going that route with you.  | ||||

I didn't know what the gout was, so I looked it up. All accounts I found refer to it as a relatively simple problem that can be cured with diet. They also said that attacks usually only last a few days. The second onslaught of my assualt stems from the fact that you were so quick to say you would be in for bowling and drinking. Well a major contributing factor to gout is alcohol. And, if your foot is so fucked up, how the hell are you going to bowl? You didn't admit that you fucked up. You used the gout and the meds as your crutch to avoid responsibility for your actions. That was my point in saying to admit that you fucked up. As for what you think of me... "CARE!?!" It's a message board, don't get your panties in a bunch. I've been bustin' your balls a little, if you're going to cry like the little bitch that you are, I'll leave you alone. Not because you asked me to, but because I don't beat up on girls. :p

And I think you need to reread the post. I did say how i fucked up and got mad at people. I did say I think I took things to heart because of what I have been going through with this. Over the course of that week I had developed another attack of gout. I had been getting these painful swellings for a long time now. I never knew what it was. The only thing I do know is that it cost me Alot of money when i pay for the doctors and when i miss four or more days of work. So thats why I get in a pissy mood. Its not a crutch its the truth. I get all pissy because Im stuck home again for the third time in a year. The doctor couldnt tell me what was wrong the last time.So why do I think he will this time. I finally go in to see him because Im out of pain medicine and he suggests blood work. He explains what he may be looking for. I go home read up on it and have no idea how long Ive had this or what it has already done to my joints because it seems to get worse everytime. I get the phine call confirming his find and He warns me of the dangers. Now Im not much of a drinker but I do enjoy few beers sometimes. I am normal, anyway its only been a few days that i was told no drinking so i think im going to jump at the chance to say yes ill have a few beers. besides once it under control I can drink lightly occassionally. And I can Bowl by the time there is a bowling party I will be fine. So if i misunderstood your joke Im sorry but it didnt read like a joke to me. It seemed to me you have a hard on for me to be prooved wrong and for me to get banned. And if thats not the case at all it just seemed that way to me. Ok so are we all clear on this. And gov your right. I dont care what anyone thinks I know the truth I know the pain Ive been in and I know who I am. I just dont want everyone coming in and saying Im a fake and all that. This is exactly what happened in FC I was behaving on the board I took peoples advice then someone comes in and bashes me and it an all out bash fest. Which turned out to be legit. And the things people said about me in there they were way off. I had no retarded posts. My posts were no different then anyone elses. I just happened to be on the board alot. But thats over and so is this. Im feeling 100% better new meds are working. And if this clears up and I diet i will be fine. There is a slight chance I may have to be on meds all of my life but that remains a mystery as of yet. Ok I am going to listen to the show now. just lock this thread up before it gets out of hand. I was a dick I have admited it I have apologized. lets move on. | ||||
