| The question now is whether they will enforce the smoking law. The shore towns already have littering laws in place and all the bennies still use the beach as a place to throw away all their other garbage.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the people who come for the summer, it's just the trash that many of them leave behind that is the problem. They bring lots of money to the area, but they still act like FILTHY ANIMALS!!

| Even though I'm a smoker, I gotta agree with the ban. Its just not having the beach littered with cigarette butts. And if you need to smoke so badly that you can't walk to the boardwalk, then you are truly pathetic

| i love the whole, "you can leave your hypodermic needles on the sand, but not your cig" complainer. let me ask you a question, if you are shooting drugs on the beach, DON'T YOU THINK YOU WILL GET ARRESTED????????????? or do you think its legal to shoot up on the beach but not legal to smoke. if you are going to disagree, at least have an arguement that makes a little more sense. thanx

| Thank God for this law!!! If people wanna commit slow motion suicide by smoking that's fine, but damnit don't fuck up my lungs with your stench!!! I think they should have gone even farther with this and made it so you can't smoke on the boardwalk either!!! Then maybe we wouldn't have to smell the stench of those fuckin cigars!!!

| Hey people, there's a simple rule for all of this, it applies the same to hunting, fishing, camping, and tailgating, if you can bring it, you can take it away.

| Faceman,
I don't think the hypo needle thing was so much from junkies. I'm pretty sure that was from medical waste that somehow ended up in the ocean and washed up onshore. This was a pretty big problem in the late 80's, but the beaches have been pretty clean since then.
Anyway, last summer there were a few cases on NJ beaches where people found or stepped on hypo needles, and those could have been left by junkies.
The people who do things like that should be drawn and quartered!
