| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | We are without question a bonafide "society". In fact, I personally feel that we are in general an improvement on the "outside world". How so? Well, here we actually have discussions, we actually "listen" for lack of a better word. This is not a spoken conversation where one can tune out their counterpart and reply without giving a person a chance to finish a thought. In general, the thought was completed before anyone actually got to see it. For the most part, communications here are more effective than in other relationships, which helps us to understand each other better than most folks. The really fascinating thing about this happy little place we all love so well is most evident at any of the gatherings. I was at the anny party and was amazed to look around the room and soak it in. People from all walks of life. One guy has a preppy look, while the guy he is drinking with looks like he just got back from a Megadeth concert. To look at us all together, you would never expect us to comingle so well. We have outgrown the childhood cliques and learned that beyond the clothes and the cars we are real people. Real people who have many things in common, not just a love for a radio show, but real issues. I have been inhumanly busy at work and don't get to spend the time here that I would like, but I check in every day. I may not post, but I read. I make sure that my little safe haven is still here, make sure that my "home" is still ok. For those that would say that this isn't real, the people are not real, I say nay. We are better than that. Not only is this a "society" made of real people, this is a community of very "good" people. In many ways, I would much rather be here than in the "real" world, full of violence and predicated on judgemental views and force fed opinions. This is not "just a message board"..... this is home. :)  Say hello to my little friend(s)! Once again I am newbieless. | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | I totally agree with Magus and I never realized the importance of this board until I couldn't get onto it. It's a place of discussion, a place of news, a place of interest, and one of the best sites on the internet. This isn't like a fantasy world, it's people as people discussing things as people in a larger forum than we normally would have. I am on this board most of the time I'm online, if not posting or replying waiting for a new post to read or reply to. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Feb. 01 | U know how it says ur online home in the banner? Other than nhl.com, foundry, or porn sites, this is the only place i go to when online at home and at school. I post at least 4 times when at school and post and reply the whole time im online at night. Which is 3 hours. This is my home and this is where i come and talk to people that can relate to a situation i might be having or just talk to people that i have a lot in common with. Yes this is a society but its a society of people who have many things in common and the one that is the most important of all, is the reason why this board exists in the first place. That is the Opie and Anthony show.Yes this is a society. A society that im damn proud to be a part of!  IF U WANNA DINE WITH THE DEVIL, UR GONNA NEED A LONG SPOON!! | ||||

| O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Well we all have "lives" outside this board. Some of us, encompass both into our lives. You, who do so, are lucky. There are quite a few people I would love to meet, after talking for hours on end in IM. It would be a privlege to meet them, some though I would like to take my foot and boot my size 15 shoe up their ass. Others I can see myself spending hours just talking to in person. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | WORD UP MY BROTHER !!! The way I see it, for me at least, it started out as being 'just a message board'. No personality, faceless words on the computer screen. As I found myself spending more time here, I was able to eventually make connections with people. Some I have been able to meet, others I may never - but I still look at us as a rather large 'family' - dysfunctional, but still a 'family'. We band together when there is a 'fight', console when there is a 'loss', congratulate when 'good news' arrives. People come, people go - but I 'grow' as a person when I can learn things from you. I feel that I have made friends here on the board, although it is behind a keyboard and monitor. I have yet to make it to an oa.com event, but, someday I will (possibly the softball game), and I will meet some of you fine people. I agree that this is more than a message board for me, I enjoy visiting and reading what is on the minds of all of you that post. My wife thinks I waste too much time on here, and she is probably right, to some extent, but, I feel that you people are part of my life also! I appreciate the work these guys do to run it but its not my life. I like to come here, shoot the shit, read a few posts and go on with my life. I do think however that its not a healthy thing to try to use the board as a compensation for real life interaction.
