The Young Ones definitely ruled ("Darling fascist bully-boy, Give me more money you bastard. May the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your woman, Neil").
I was a huge Beavis and Butthead fan.
Also, does anybody remember the Ben Stiller Show? They had a skit called "The Grungees" - it was a parody of the Monkees, where Ben was all decked out like Chris Cornell in his Jesus phase, and it was funny as shit.
The State, too - "Sit your ass down in that pudding!"

[soapbox]Of course, herein lies the problem - none of these things have to do with MUSIC, therefore proving that MTV's best moments have all completely missed the point. The best music related thing I remember is watching Judas Priest on the Saturday Night Concert back when I was like 12.[/soapbox]

Any videos with barely clothed women. Some of these rap/R&B videos are outrageous. Almost as good as porn...almost.

I have to go with Beauty and the Beach on their Spring Break coverage back in the early 90s. Some of those girls were basically wearing nothing. The State was great. A friend of mine in college had the "best of" tape and we watched it all the time. I love the skit with the two guys and the pile of pudding.

In the 80s, MTV was THE place to get information about favorite artists. The videos rocked and cartoons were cool.

But a favorite would have to be a little known show (based on how fast it was killed) called Sifl & Olly. Two sock puppets hosting a sort of interview show. Stupid and silly but it was really funny. Ren and Stimpy (before the sell out) and Beavis and Butthead were great too.

A few years ago, they had a Sifl & Olly marathon and yeah, I called in sick to tape it.

Definitely Beavis and Butthead. I used to love the Real World, but it's too annoying now

1.) Undressed -- awful show but lots of hot teens
2.) B&B -- R.I.P.
3.) Real World -- but not this season, they finally found a cast more boring than London
4.) MTV 2 -- I don't get MTVX

That's about it... nothing else worth watching on that channel.

M.T.V.-Get off the Air
Fun Fun Fun in the fluffy chair
Flame up the herb
Woof down the beer
-(click!)-

Hi
I'm your video DJ
I always talk like I'm wigged out on quaaludes
I wear a satin baseball jacket everywhere I go

My job is to help destroy
What's left of your imagination
By feeding you endless doses
Of sugar-coated mindless garbage

So don't create
Be sedate
Be a vegetable at home
And thwack on that dial
If we have our way even you will believe
This is the future of rock and roll

How far will you go
How low will you stoop
To tranquilize our minds with your sugar-coated swill

You've turned rock and roll rebellion
Into Pat Boone sedation
Making sure nothing's left to the imagination M.T.V. Get off the M.T.V. Get off the

M.T.V.

Get off the air
Get off the air See the latest rejects from the muppet show
Wag their tits and their dicks
As they lip-synch on screen

There's something I don't like
About a band who always smiles
Another tax write-off
For some schmuck who doesn't care M.T.V. Get off the air And so it was
Our beloved corporate gods
Claimed they created rock video
Allowing it to sink as low in one year
As commercial TV has in 25

"It's the new frontier," they say
It's wide open, anything can happen
But you've got a lot of nerve
To call yourself a pioneer
When you're too god-damn conservative
To take real chances.

Tin-eared
Graph-paper brained accountants
Instead of music fans
Call all the shots at giant record companies now

The lowest common denominator rules
Forget honesty
Forget creativity
The dumbest buy the mostest
That's the name of the game

But sales are slumping
And no one will say why
Could it be they put out one too many lousy records?!? M.T.V.-Get off the air! NOW

I have two favorite things about MTV;

1) I can program my remote to skip right past the channel when I'm channel surfing, and

2) In case I loose the programming in my remote, I can change the channel.

Sorry folks, I never have gotten into music videos. I know I'm an "old man", but I still prefer to listen to music, not watch it.
