They even had a good plot somewhere in there with the political intrigue but Lucas dropped that for shit. Sure the saber battle was cool but that was pretty much it. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | It will debut Memorial Day weekend 2002, as all the episodes to date have premiered that weekend. The hype reference was to this episode. They hyped Episode 1 like none of the others. Remember I'm "old" (not my words...lol). I have been around for the hype of all 5 episodes to date. The original Episode IV A New Hope, had minimal fanfare. It was unkown how popular it would be.  o&aswallow Recognized His Destiny Early. | Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | Its just a title. Do you think that Return of the Jedi or The Phantom Menace were good titles ? The entire series has been one cheesy pulp title after another. Lucas could call it Star Wars: My Third Testicle and it would gross $200 million. Repeat to yourself, It's just a movie. I should really just relax. (Thanks to MST3K)  | ||||

It will also give us insite into a lot of things that we already know about the original trilogy. I just hope, like everyone else, that jar jar binks isn't in this one...that sucked! | O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | I had a few problems with Ep. 1. But I did enjoy it as a movie. 1. Ep. 1 was a total REJECTION of what Star Wars fans wanted. Lucas said he did not want to make the DARK epic that all the hard-core fans were expecting. He wanted to make a FAMILY movie. 2. Jar Jar was a dumb DISNEY character. One of those annoying comic relief characters. 3. Very little character developement. But, Ep.1 was an origin story, a PROLOGUE, an introduction. It was the salad before the main course. I only hope Lucas wakes up, listens to all the criticism of Ep.1 and gives the fans what they want. Near death escpapes, huge battles, and characters we CARE about.  I wonder how many people actually read the text people put under their sig pics. | ||||

But if I remember correctly, Lucas had 3 more sequels that happen after ROTJ. I don't think he's planning on making those though.  | ||||

If he gave the fans what we really wanted Jar Jar would die, preferable horribly, in the first ten minutes of ep.2. Lucas said in an interview that he considered the original trology like a three act play where the second act was the darkest, hopefully he will do the same again in the prequal trilogy. I'm not keen on the title though, it seems the lamest of the lot. Tripod killed my pic, I can't be bothered to replace it. ARG I NEED COFFEE !! | ||||

This just in: Lucas is hiring Britney Spears to redo the entire Soundtrack for the re-release of American Grafetti. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Nov. 00 | In case you didn't know, the original ending for Return of the Jedi was supposed to be on Chewbacca's homeworld with the wookies rising up out of slavery and destorying the empire. The wookies were enslaved for their strength and used as labor to build the Death Star and other projects. That's how Han and Chewie met. Chewie was a slave being beaten to death and Han saved him. It would have made a lot more sense then the Attack of the Carebears ending to see a huge slave revolt of Wookies both on the planet and inside the Death Star. But, Lucas decided he wanted to do a Pimitives vs. Technology ending and Chewie was to advanced because we see him repairing the Millenium Flacon, so he replaced the wookies with Ewocks. Also, Lando Clarissian and the Millenium Falcon DIDN'T make it out of the Death Star in the original ending. Remember the scene of Han watching Lando and the Falcon take off and saying "I've got this stange feeling I'm never going to see her again." It makes no sense, except with the original ending. That final party was supposed to be a combination of "Horray we won" and "Look what it cost us" with all the people they lost in the battle. But, Lucas pussied out and went for the happy ending all around. I just hope that Ep. 3 is as dark as it should be. After all, it has to end with the death of ALL the Jedi except Yoda and Kenobi and probably Luke and Leia's mother, and the victory of the Empire and the Dark Side. How can you have all that, and STILL do a happy ending goofy movie? I wonder how many people actually read the text people put under their sig pics. | ||||
