It's not up to Frog whether or not Magus lives or dies, it's up to Frog whether or not he chooses to FIGHT Magus. He could very well fight Magus and fail.

And I know I said Lavos was just a stupid porcupine, but he's a damn cool stupid porcupine. Best. RPG. EVER.
