| Tool is one of the best live bands out there today. They put on a hell of a show wherever they go.
And now I feel like I'm alive
I don't know how I got so low
These voices in my mind
Tell my it's killing time
It is a thrill I can't describe

| I love how they tweak the older songs to keep them fresh. Not enough to make a huge difference, but enough for the older fans to realize. I love the extra verse in stinkfist.

| the version of Pushit on Salival is incredible. I love how its slowed down and darker than the original.

| I despised Tool at one point. Mainly the reason was because I never bothered to give the music a chance to begin with. I figured that since Maynard was been known as an incredibly intelligent and deep songwriter, he probably just sang things that would only connect in his own mind and make no sense to anyone else.
Once a friend of mine burned Undertow,Aenima, and Lateralus I decided to see what the hooplah was about. God damn was I amazed. I mainly enjoy Tool just because they sing about real subjects rather than other rock bands that rely on singing about how hardcore they are and how they can kick the shit of anyone.
Another thing that impresses me about Tool is that they don't have to have a certain image in order to succeed in a genre where bands rely on what color their hair is , or how much makeup they can shove under their faces. I saw Tool in Florida and the entire time Maynard was crouched in the corner in the venue in the shadows to the point where you couldn't even make out what he looked like. Overall just an extraordinary band that I misjudged.

| the first time that I heard TOOL was in '96 when AEnima first came out. I had never heard of them. It's safe to say that I have been hooked ever since.
Maynard is quite a paradigm. He doesn't like to be in the spot light at concerts or at photoshoots, but he is very willing to be a part of anything anti-commerciallism, such as Bikini Bandits and Mr. Show. He isn't willing to do public appearances and is impossible to interview, but will open up when you least expect it. He is God . . . or as he would prefer, Satan.

| Dont forget about Opiate. Great cd. I have a version live with Layne singing with MJK. Audio is kinda crappy, but still cool to have, esp. now with him being dead and all.

The intro to that shitty bootleg is worth it, plus its something of Layne that just became that much more gooder

| Tool is great because they are of singular originality. No one grinds like them, yet is so melodic. I've also noticed that their percussion rhythms are reminiscent of some reggae. They seem to utilize a repetitive beat pattern that serves to hypnotize the listener. Swamp Song is still a favorite.quote:

What is this from, other than Groundhog Day?

| The quote is from a festival that Tool and Alice in Chains did in Seattle. MJK was introducing Layne to help out in singing Opiate. He introduced him using that quote.

| Anybody ever here that song with Tool and Rage that has a million titles? Some people call it "Judgment Night" others call it "The Revolutionaries" some call it "Kill the Revolution" And more call it "Can't Kill the Revolution. Anyway it's a great song, just wondering what it was called and what you think about it....

| Hey, i read up on why the track mantra is on the album and found out some weird shit. When tool walked into their studio to do recording for their new album they heard a weird sound coming out of nowhere, so the drummer told em to record the sound, he described it as a sound of ghosts moving accross the room, and they decided to put a sample of that recording onto the cd.
i was lying in bed listening to the album when i first heard that, i didn't realize it was coming out of my speakers and walked up to my windows and closed them (stupid me)...it was kinda freaky. But i do know what the tool drummer is a devil worshipper, or at least that's what i've read about him. They guys don't get and don't want much media exposure so it's hard to really know what they're all about. But i love their music, and Hooker with a penis is just fucking great. |

| Devilzheir, I love observant TOOL fans.
The mantra track was put on the album that way, as well as Faaip de Oiade. Danny Carey (drummer) was the one to recognize it. Adam Jones (guitarist) was the one who thought it necessary to leave them on the record. And Mantra is simply whale sounds. The reason for the lead in to Schism (and this is purely skeptical) is that the sound represents some sort of harmony and a bit of misunderstanding (on our, the human, part), hence the reason it fits Schism's message. Danny is known to be one to 'acknowledge' other spirits to help him play and help him be a better musician. I don't think that it is necessarily Satanic, but one never knows . . . ;)

| Ok, I was just wondering do any of these guys really worship Satan or the devil or whatever. I mean I don't know much about their private lives, neither do most other people for that matter.
Obviously this idea has always been out there and what have you. A long long time ago I recall hearing a story that Maynard had pentagrams carved into the walls of his home because he never wanted to stray to far from them. A feeling of being closer to the devil ???? I dunno could just all be a load of shit , but I was interested in knowing if anyone has any info on what these guys do. Not that it matters even if they do worship the devil or not.

| I don't believe any of that Satan worshipping. I could understand them if they just said they don't believe in God because some people don't want religion in their life. But I'm sure that nobody would worship someone or something that inflicts pain to everyone including their own families. It's a 'gimmick' in my opinion...

My lamb and martyr, you look so precious.
Won't you come a bit closer,
close enough so I can smell you.
I need you to feel this, I can't stand to burn too long.
Released in this sodomy. For one sweet moment I am whole.

| Listen to the lyrics of Lateralus, my girl friend used to be into the whole wicka (i think that's what it's called) stuff and when she heard the song she said a lot of the word were direct quotes of some of the things that are said during certain rituals she had to perform (don't ask, i'm just as clueless).
