Torre is even better at Yankee job than I thought

but he is far from the greatest
Somehow it doesn't look like I was calling him the greatest manager.
a) I was relaying Michael Kay's comment
b) I said he was good at the Yankee job.
In order to be a Yankee manager, you need to get talented players to play well, and you need to get along with George. I may be a Met fan, but I recognize that Torre does both of those well.
Torre was never a "genius" when he managed Mets, he was only "good" with Cards & Braves. With Yankees he does what he needs to; enough said.
As for Ventura, a lot has to do with the lack of pressure in the Bronx. With the Mets he was supposed to be the 2nd or 3rd best hitter; with Yankees he only needed to do better than Brosius.
That may not be the only reason, but it sure helps.
2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....)
1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice
1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play
2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base.
4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)
