| Well, it seems like the Pittsburgh Steelers have a new name for their stadium. It is now called the Heinz stadium. LOL. The Heinz ketchup company bought the rights to name the new Steeler stadium the Heinz stadium. I can't fucking believe that the Steelers would agree to this. They will now be the laughing stock of the NFL. The article I found this out from in Yahoo! had some funny stuff, like renaming the Red Zone the Ketchup Zone lol.
So, what does everyone else think about this unique name??

| #1: Flutie will be the only one to succeed as a QB, but he is working with a young, inexperienced cast - the rest of the QB's in the list are paper tigers that should be backups.
#2: If the networks are too stupid to realize how much of a problem Monday Night Football is having keeping an audience past halftime, they deserve to see the ratings drop in the playoffs. Outside the cities of the teams playing, the ratings will suck and suck big, and then they'll change back to day games. I hope moving the playoffs to nights is just a rumor - could you imagine a game at Giants Stadium starting at 8:30 in January? Can you say frozen testicles?
#3: Unless Ron Dayne turns it around in the off-season like he said he would, losing Joe Montgomery is going to hurt the Giants bad.
#3a: If Armstead is holding out for more money, it might be time to let him go rather than risk the bad chemistry - just because he wears #98, he's no L.T.*
I just hope my Giants can play up to their first-place schedule. Hopefully, Brown, Seigler and Parker can stay healthy until some successors are found.
*L.T. wore #98 in rookie camp before changing to #56 for opening day in 1981.

| The Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be on August 4 according to NFL.com. The following people will be inducted:
Marv Levy
Jack Youngblood
Mike Munchak
Lynn Swann
Ron Yary
Jackie Slater
Nick Buoniconti
I know a lot about football and its history, but unfortunately i am only 19, so I was not able to watch these athletes/coaches perform live, excluding Marv Levy with the Bills. I know that Buoniconti was involved with the undefeated Dolphins, and I know Lynn Swann was one of the best WR's to play the game. I've heard of Jack Youngblood and Jackie Slater, but not Yary and Munchak. If someone could help me out about those 2 guys, Id appreciate it.
BTW, the hall of fame ceremony is awesome every year. It is the only type of ceremony in any of the 4 major sports that I really care about, just because of the surrondings of the ceremony and the people getting awarded with it.

| If anyone still reads this thread lol, I have an example of how badly the New York Giants off-season is going for them. This really sucks.
I heard today on WFAN that Will Allen, 1st round draft pick from Syracuse, got robbed of $150,000 of jewelry by 3 guys. He was injured when he tried to wrestle the gun away from one guy, and the other 2 beat him up and doused him with gasoline, threatening to light him on fire!!! They proceeded to rob him and leave.
My response: you gotta be fucking kidding me! This offseason is not good for my boys, and i hope this is not an omen for the Giants season.

| The Eagles will be unstoppable this year. We got a good WR, and McNabb won't have to play QB and Running Back because Deuce Staley will be back. We kicked ass last year, so just imagine...

Youre forgetting the fact that since Fassel has been coach, the Giants are undefeated against the lowly Eagles. I admit the Eagles are a threat, but a mild one at best. No defense = no wins against the Giants

| Hopefully he gets resigned by someone, even the Jets. This guy was great, and will be most remembered with the Super Bowl Giants in 1990. Ive liked this guy his whole career and hopefully the Giants honor him when he officially retires.
Jets release veteran T Jumbo Elliott
July 19, 2001
HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK (TICKER) -- The New York Jets on Thursday released Jumbo Elliott, but hope to re-sign the 14-year veteran tackle at a cheaper price.
"In order to facilitate the signing of our rookies, we had to release John Elliott today," Jets general manager Terry Bradway said. "It is our hope that this is a temporary transaction and that we can continue to have dialogue with his represantation."
Elliott, 36, was to make $1.5 million in 2001, but will likely have to accept the minimum to return to the Jets. He served as a backup to starting left tackle Jason Fabini and also played in selected short yardage situations and on special teams for the Jets in 11 games last season. Elliott's season was highlighted by his first-ever touchdown when he made a juggling three-yard catch in the end zone late in the fourth quarter of a come-from-behind win over Miami.
The 6-7, 305-pound Elliott has played in 70 games, including 58 starts, over the last five seasons with the Jets.
A starter on the New York Giants' Super Bowl XXV team in 1990, Elliott was selected to the Pro Bowl in 1993.

| Jumbo was big, but he was always injured with the Jints. He was a Parcells guy, but he was always missing the big games.
The Jets are a shambles this off-season, which might actually be a GOOD omen. They snuck up on everyone in '98, and they might do it again.
Damn, I miss Parcells on the Giants' sideline. It would be like Bernie Williams signing with three other teams after his Yankees contract ran out.
Why would a rookie have $150k in jewelry ON HIM? Maybe that's a good omen to, albeit a personal one.
Shee-it, I can't wait for football to get started!!!
