OK, so I just listened to it. They really seemed upset, and even questioned the need for the board anymore.

What they seemed upset most wasn't really people not being nice to other posters on the board, but the fact that so many people seemed to be critcsizing the show.

I assume that most of the people here are long time listeners and became big fans well before syndication (or even from the Boston days for some of us). That radio is COMPLETELY different than it has become.

So when you are a fan of a show for years, a member of a fan site for 6 months, a year, two years, etc, you don't just stop posting becuase the show has completely changed.

You make comments on the inecessant contests and "listeners tell us what wacky stunt they'll do to qualify for said contest", and how they beat funny bits into the ground (i.e. Frenchy). That doesn't make me a non-fan.

Back in they day, they were just guys fucking around and doing their show. Mics just happened to be on, and that was the best thing about the show, now they seem to be worried about the different "markets" and making sure that they repeat bits for different hours of the day, and other marketing and radio business shit. Like the handlers are telling them to intentionally repeat bits becuase of the turnover between the 3 o'clock hour and the 6 o'clock hour. Fuck the listeners! Just do the show. Don't force it.

The show has changed, and it's changed for the worse. If they realize it, but get upset that people notice it as well and mention it, well then tough shit. Why not pull a Stern and just shut the whole board down? If they refuse to acknowledge that the show is worse, and that's why they're upset, then they are surrounded a shitload of yes-men.

Do they just want the board to be a bunch of asskissing "These guys are the best!" "These contests just get wackier and wackier...I love it!" posts?

I knew there was reason I enjoyed OOAWITE's posts. Most of the time there amusing but other times, they're right on target, much like Gonzostyle's.
I pretty much feel the same way at this point in time. However, Norton keeps me tuned in as well as the friends of the show.
Shit happens and so does changing the dial on the radio.

I agree that users have been extremely critical of them recently, and I can understand why that angers them.

It works both ways. They only focus on us when something goes wrong, but in many respects we here do the same.

i was out today, so thanks to av8er for the mp3, but they really took too much negative of the board.yes, we are the superfans, and we post about the show.so what?they should be HAPPY we know that they played the bit twice in one day, or that we noticed them leaving early.it shows they have listeners who pay attention.those of us here listen as much as possible(or stay in OT because they dont listen anymore), so what we post is agreed by.we dont trash the show everyday.look at GD and you'll see tons of positive stuff.plus, we've been posting about how the guys suck on a given day since the begining.hell, we used to call up and make fun of them, but then they stopped.

I've only posted here like a few times and I totally agree that O and A are being waaaay to critical of the board here. But in all honesty, there are two sides to the story. Granted that about 90 percent of the time people get ripped on it's because they're a bunch of tools who are just spewing stupidity, but that still leaves about 10 percent. The fact is that people do occasionally get ripped just for being new, that's probably why I never post. I know that I've checked this board out quite often before and I feel bad for the people who get torn apart because some member doesn't have anything else which will offer some sort of miniscule amount of pleasure in their day. It's a god damn radio show, and people shouldn't be criticized for saying something sucks or something rocks by anyone. It's freakin entertainment. But people also shouldn't be tooled on because they think a certain way about the show. We all have opinions, we're all human god damn beings. So maybe we should act like them instead of shrieking about how stupid some member is or if you like what's going on in the show or not. Sure you can say that you don't find something entertaining , but you don't have to rant about it and what not.

Last time i checked this is a fucking messageboard. Granted it is owned by froy and you cannot do whatever you please. But if I joined here now, and tried to post. I wouldn't last that long.

Stern tools ,spammers and just dumb people need to be punished. If some one posts in the wrong fourm dont make it a huge issue. Just kindly move the post and forget about it. He'll learn.


Is it possible for the FAQ to show up automatically before a new member posts. Most newbies or internet users for that matter dont know what a FAQ is. I think the rules need to be enforced....and hard. But not to the point where we will possibly knock out members who possibly may add something in the future.

As Ant once pointed out..a good percentage of the members here are the "superfans" those who will listen to the show whenever, wherever. (not his exact words but you know what i mean) Not everyone who posts here listen to the show daily. I cant listen to the show daily. I have class at night and later in the afternoon. So I try to d/l mp3s to "catch up".

I think we should stop the tooling of newbies. Should we super nicey to them. No. If we too tool on them, we should let them know that we are doing that and that it usually isnt meant to be serious. No matter how politically incorrect we may be, people have feelings you know. You dont know what they may be going through behind that computer screen and you dont know jack about them. I think if anyone feels that they are more powerful than someone just because they are able to toss comments freely on a message board should get there head examined.

OAAWITE, my point was that it's very easy to sit here and be exteremly harsh critics of the show, the bits, the guests, etc.

But it's not nearly as easy as it seems to go out and fill 20 hours of dead air each week.

It's easy to be an outsider and judge critically, but you never really know what's happening. It's the same way that it gets old when people criticize the decisions I make, or when people continually harp on the bad of this site. Until you've actually sat in that chair in the studio and tried to entertain people, you really can only go so far with your personal opinion.

In the end, it's a lose/lose for everyone when this sort of thing happens.

Froy, unlike the attacks that have been made on you, the shots that people make here have been about the content of the show, and not moved to personal shots at O&A. As long as it stays that way, I don't that anything is off limits

I know that its takes a shitload of extensive talent to gt 20 hours of radio. And they consitently did it for years. I couldn't do it for a day.

But coming up with contest after contest after contest makes it so they don't have to run the show. They just sit and react to what's going on in the studio. And it's not even comments about it. They do play-by-play, yell, and have 10 people in studio laughing. It's just lame pure and simple. I obviously wasn't around pre-syndication but I was around in Boston before they got fired. They never had guests, they never had contests, they just sat and talked. That's it. And it was great. Even at the beginning of syndication they did that. Now it's just wacky contests one after another.

And now the new thing where they aren't even thinking up their own bits, but having callers call in and say what they'd do to be a part of the contests.

It's just lazy radio. Everything they have shit on for years, and continue to do so. Barely 3 months ago they were ranking on Don and Mike for doing bits about people drinking water until the contestants puked. Now the guys are doing it with water, milk, chowder, and anything else.

Shit on Stern all they want. Shit on him for his incessant complaining about people ripping him off, his Arsenio Hall like interviews, his repetitive interviews about how much he wants to bang the girls in his studio, and how uppidy he has become, but he can at least carry a week's worth of 4+ hour shows without the need for some contest to give the show structure.
