O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | I would definitely invest in 3 monitors if I could do it feasibly. Let me ask you what kind of card do you need for 3 monitors? Do you need multiple cards? E-Mail Me IM me at stickysituation2

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | I use 3dfx Voodoo3 cards, 1 AGP, 2PCI. You don't need anything special to run it, just video cards that work with multimon (most newer cards do) and a computer running win98 or better. Oh, and Gateway machines don't like to run multimon, but some will work. Read more on multiple monitors at RealTimeSoft.

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | av8er, it has been said that there is no porn allowed on the board, you might want to change that sig. as for trying multiple monitor... put in the second card, hook up the monitor, and fire up windows. you'll know right away if it works or not.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | If I were going for multiple monitor i would go for the current card i have Geforce 2 Pro and those Matrox Dual Head cards. I'd be able to add a second monitor and the possibility of a third without having to get another graphics card. E-Mail Me IM me at stickysituation2

Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | dual head cards are cool, and they have gotten cheaper recently. when I did my setup, it was easier for me to pay $70 for the voodoo3 cards, one at a time, than to buy a dual head in one shot.

Of course, I did learn the hard way that certain older programs are incompatible with Win ME and cause your system to not start: but once I got over that, I have had nothing but good things to say about ME. I have a completely legal upgrade, thanks to work. Of course, I bought my first PS back in college for the student rate anyway, so it wouldn't have been a big hit anyway. AIM:isdononthephone

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Well I have to run older progs on windows so I guess you should research what is better for you. BTW XP is supposed to be great and I hope it is but I have some misgivings. The compaitability of 95/98/ME and the stability of 2000. Hopefully they will be able to do this. But my major problem is the piracy crap they're pulling. You can only install it on twice and then you have to call them for another serial number. What kind of shit is that. I know a lot of people that format and restart from scratch like me and that is a huge ass hassle. And if you don't register it within 14 days you will not be able to use it at all. And the fact they want to shove .wma down our throats is bs. I'd rather stick with 2000 then all the crap they're trying to pull with XP. The second they release XP with this stuff if they do, Linux will skyrocket in popularity. E-Mail Me IM me at stickysituation2

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: It sounds like Micrsoft is finally attempting to do something about people ripping off their software (I myself have managed to burn quite a lot of MS stuff from work with no problems whatsoever), but I think they're going about it the wrong way - personally, I've never done a reformat/reinstall on my PC,(going on 4 years now) but even if I wanted to now, its more of a hassle than anything, since the asshole cable modem techie didn't leave me any software that I could reinstall if things should go haywire with my PC (Im moving out soon, so when I get my cable hookup at the new place, I'll be sure to get the software) - lots of people do formats/reinstalls, so unless XP is so good that its not a necessity, they're gonna hear a lot of bitching and moaning from the consumer public. Its hard enough to get them on the phone for anything as it is. "Do me and you'll succeed :)" Graduate of the Rookie School for Newbies

I run WinME, but I am looking forward to getting Win2K when I can set aside some money. I haven't noticed any stability issues with Win98SE over WinME. One of the things I liked about WinME was the "thumbnail" file view. It makes working with graphics easier. I would highly suggest you get a copy of Norton System Works 2001. It will really make your machine run better. Norton Internet Security 2001 is pretty good too, especially if you have a cable modem. I also have a Dell Inspiron 7000 laptop Pent II/233. Nice to take on airplanes, as it has a DVD drive and can play just about any game too :) allyourbasearebelongtous

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 00 | The Elclipse montior light is a lamp that sits on your monitor and eases eye strain by lighting up the room with backround light instead of using a regular lamp or my ceiling fan lights that cause glare on my monitor I use the Eclipse. I got it off the net I forgot what site I ordered it from. It was 40 bucks plus shipping. The best money I have ever spent. No more eye strain or pounding headaches.
