He actually said in an interview once that the reason that he waited so long to do episode 1 was because he was waiting for the technology to catch up with his ideas. Also, 4 stands alone pretty well. It's got the full storyline arc there. The Deathstar is destroyed, and that could be the end of the story should the movie not do well enough to justify a sequel. The same could not be said for one, since most of the "bad guys" are still around and in power.

Between ILM and the other gazillion Lucas-owned corporations, so much new technology has come along that's made a lot of movies possible that otherwise could not have been made. Hanger-On Registered: Apr. 02 | Ok, I'm curious. Why does everyone seem to agree that T2 was better than Terminator? Is the kicker the special effects? Cuz hell yeah they were better, but the original was dark and well written, without so many of the cliches that crept into the T2. My vote would be for the first as the better of the two. To the best of my knowlege... the two are unrelated other than being Spaghetti Westerns having Clint Eastwood in the lead role as an unnamed man... if you want to get technical... "Unforgiven" was more of a sequel to "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly" ...if you don't believe me, then look on the IMDB and see the comments...and i quote: quote:

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Sep. 00 | Fisful of Dollars/A Few Dollars More/Good, The Bad and The Ugly are all called the Sergio Leone Man with No Name/"Dollars" Trilogy. In fact Eastwood wears the same clothing in the first two and throughout GBU (really a prequel) acquires the clothes he wears in the other two "It appears my wee wee has been strucken with rigor mortis."
