It can happen, especially getting the crowd into it at the Coliseum once again, which will definitely help - not to mention being the fuck away from the center of the Toronto media for a few days; apparently the 2 big TO papers are sending 10 or so reporters combined just to cover the games. That's a lot of journalistic pressure. They'll get back to the island, relax a bit, and take it from there. Long live the Gonzo sigs! Thanks Amy! O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | Also, 77-78, the Leafs did it against the Isles, losing the first 2 and winning 4 of the next 5 to take the series in 7. DIG, is that because you Flyers fans have nothing to defend except a cup run in 97 in which you were spanked and anally raped by the Red Wings? Or maybe because the Flyers only have 2 cups in their history. Also, Slack, 2 cups since 81 is good, but 4 in the first 11 years of a franchise is better. Took the Rangers 69 years to get their fourth, and who knows how long it'll take the Devs to get another one. Long live the Gonzo sigs! Thanks Amy! Look at what the Flyers have done over the past ten years or so compared to what the Isle has done. The Islanders are a side show hockey team in NY just like the Mets and the Clippers in LA.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 00 | I've said it again, but... 3 words Tonelli to Nystrom You're right, they have a better team over the past 8 years, but what do they have to show for it? A few division titles and one conference title. If you compare even further back, even the entire histories of these fairly young clubs, you'll find there's no comparison. Long live the Gonzo sigs! O&A Board Regular Registered: Aug. 01 | When it comes to fairly young clubs, there's actually no comparison to the Oilers, so shut up about your little dynasty. Funny how you have to go back to the 80's to talk smack to us. And I know you're going to say it's funny how we have to go back 50 years to our second last Cup, well, how about winning a playoff game for a change?? As for the Devils, they kick ass no doubt about it but there's only one way to go when you're at the top.... And that's down!

Say it with me staaaaanley cuuuup.....come on... staaaaanley cuuup... So I take it the 76ers are no longer the philly frontrunners' choice. now its the flyers? aren't people from philly going to dump them after they loose two playoff games and start rooting for phillies? Or is it time for "who cares as long as the eagles are good" yet? PS- great draft picks, eagles - draft players at the only positions you are already strong at.. Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | quote: Well, when your owners are greedy fucks and your total payroll comes out to about $24.95, it isn't easy winning, much less being competitive. The Islanders had no money to work with in the past. So they had to do with what they had, which wasn't a lot. Now they have some financial backing, and look what it does. True, they probably won't get by Toronto. They may even get swept. But they have to lose before they learn how to win. I'm proud of what they accomplished this year. And the future looks bright for them. ___________________________________________________________________ I'm bigger than the Devil combined with Schindler's list.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Sep. 00 | yeh lets still pretend the Isles actually deserved to win the game tonight. Winning the game on a penalty shot is a win but lets be honest its a giftwrapped win. Its a BS call in that situation. I know the Isle fans will still take it bec theyre such a desparate bunch, how long has it been now? about 20 years. At least the devil fans know what the stanley cup is like and you gotta respect them for that but Isle fans have only seen it in the press guide at the mauseleum This message was edited by Menino on 4-25-02 @ 12:57 AM

O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | quote: How can you fucking say that? There were over 70 penalty shots in the league this year and only 11 goals. You are an asshole if you think that was a giftwrap goal. And you point about the Isles only knowing what the cup looks like is from a press guide. Another lame attempt to make the Rangers look better for buying the cup in '94. Good luck on the golf course and in the playoffs in 2048.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | quote: Thats all nice and dandy, but your leaving out a nice little important thing. You have to be on a CLEAR CUT breakaway, Not be breaking in from the side, while the guy the defender is parallel or a stride or 2 behind him. By your definition their could be 8 guys in the zone, a guy could get cut in front of the net and get tripped down and it would be a Penalty Shot. I dont care if it happened against the Rangers or not. if it happened against the Rangers, I would have said the Rangers got a break and Ill take it. And give Bates credit, that was a hell of a shot to come through in that situation. obviously he proved that when it comes to penalty shots, Bates is a Master. the golf joke about the Rangers really hurts deeply, and yeah the Rangers bought a cup, and the Islanders will not even though the owners finally spend some money and now they are good, but it will be ok right? By the way it is oK, thats what you have to do to win, I dont criticize the Islanders or anybody for "Buying" the cup. If the Rangers "Bought" the Cup, than The Redwings did, Avalanche did, Stars did, Devils did, Flyers did. ooooops that one doesnt work. If you dont spend money your not going to win.
