Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | Thanks Random. Allyourbase, if you like the thumbnail view, you should check out ACDSee, it is an image viewing program that will also show thumbnails for video clips, and plays audio files as well. This message was edited by Kid Afrika on 4-18-01 @ 7:10 PM

Now I cruise the web in style. :) Oh and sitting next to it is my SGI O2. :) Contact me if you want to be adopted. That combined with my cable modem, and I am geek heaven. Thanks for the outlet. Some people think I'm a psycho, everybody else knows it!

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Not to copy Bluetarp, but I also did a CPU upgrade this weekend got my PIII 1Ghx for $260 <$240 + shipping>, and thought I'd post the "new" rig specs: PIII 1Ghz (from a PII 400) 256 RAM (from 128) 17" Sony Trinitron monitor Hercules Prophet II MX 32 meg SBLive! X-Gamer 48x Mitsubishi CD-Rom TDK 12x10x32 CDRW Roadrunner cable service Toshiba PCX1100 cable modem 250 Internal Zip Drive HP 722 Deskjet HP 4300 Scanner Altec Lansing 4 speaker + sub surround sound speakers Gravis Xterminator digital gamepad (new) Aside from possible getting a GeForce 3, I think I'm basically done upping this machine - and @1Ghz, it doesn't get much better (for a three year old machine, anyway) Anyone else here have an intel PC cam? I have one, but for whatever reason, it isn't working anymore (I'm getting a status of "driver not loading" in my control panel) Just curious. O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I couldn't read all of the posts, but does anyone have a 1gig computer? My computer is a retarded piece of crap I think I only have between 500 and 600 something mhz. Multi-tasking is a real hastle on a slow computer. I'd like you better if I could hit you over the head with a baseball bat and let a racoon with hepatitis take a crap on your face.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | 500 to 600 MHZ isn't bad but if you have problems with multi-tasking I would suggest dual processors. The MoBos are only 30 bucks more than the normal ones. If you want to go Intel go get 2 Pentium 3's cheap. But you could also wait for the AMD dual-processors coming soon which would be better because you could get 2 faster processors because of their affordability. Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 70 | AM, not all programs are multi-threaded, so multiple processors will not always help. My suggestion would be put in as much RAM as you can afford.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | After 256 MB of ram it doesn't add much performance but I have heard a lot of stories of people who use multiple programs at once that it speeds their use. But first you need an OS that supports it like Win 2k, XP, or any unix variant. E-Mail Me IM me at stickysituation2
