Well, maybe in 2 yrs we can pull up this thread again and see who was right. Oh Brownstone, you're a cocksucker. So is anyone who IFs endings of movies to the show. Opie ruuned the ending of a movie so you gotta try to ruun one for him? Anthony, Ben, Stinky, interns, they all read that shit too you know and has had every twist ending movie this year ruuned for them. I thought you were cool dude, what the fuck is your problem? Don't answer that, I don't care. quote: There is no way that shitheap could have flown anyway. Thade would have had to take the Pod Marky crashed to begin with. You paid your $10.00, shouldn't all your questions (and the plot, in this case) be resolved at the movie's end? thank's anyway... but I'll wait for the video...

That's my point. If you wanna get someone back for something, get them back, not everyone in his blast fucking radius. Understand? Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | That. Movie. Fucking. Blew. I'd have to say it was the most horrible piece of excrement I've seen since Blair Witch 2. All the tech was stolen right out of the 1st star trek movie. The apes live in a place that looks uncannily like the ewok village. The plot had more f-ing holes than sonny at the end of godfather. Sure, the make-up was great, but that's rick baker, he doesn't do things half-assed. Tim Roth rocked with what little he was given to work with, but he's got talent, unlike that miserable hack marky mark. The whole movie was just unbearable. There was obviosly a huge chunk of the movie missing, which might make up for some of the plot holes, but there is no, I repeat, no excuse for that horribly non-sensical ending. That piece of filth has absolutely no redeemable value. zero. nada. And if I talk to one more tool that says it's great just because it's a Tim Burton movie, there gonna have two opposable thumbs pushing their eyeballs into the front of their brain.

Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | TeenWeek, You do have a good point about the $10 for the movie, but sometimes a mysterious ending can be a nice change of pace. Personally, I'd be more pissed off about getting ripped off at the concessions stand for stale popcorn and carbonated sugar-water. As for the set up for a sequel, I think it could have been taken a few different ways. It could just be a cheap setup, or it could be Burton's way of making a 'campy' ending, or he just may have wanted to keep us guessing. Josh

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | <-- One Million Posts!!! Oh. Just 100. Sorry. Saw it tonight. I say entertaining. Make-up is great, and no one's argued that. Burton definitely had some homage, I guess since the whole thing's a POTA homage: the opening suit bit (Batman), the white tech (Trek), the marching apes w/ torches (Wiz o' Oz: oh-wee-oh wooooh-oh), the chimp thumbs up (Every Which Way But Loose)... Roth was very good- I thought Giamatti was f'in hysterical, and Carter did some neat stuff, too. But that blond and Mark were terrible. But, it wasn't even that big a deal until: "You came." Yuck. And then, how f'in bad was that "pep talk" Mark gave to the humans?! Took me right out of the movie. "Let's go! Come on!" That's inspiration? quote: quote: Why not? Ever see Sliders? That may even be the point. That given a little evolutionary tweak, the evolution of man wouldn't be that different than the evolution of apes. Fear of water. Maybe they got over it? Man used to fear fire. Fire=water? The numbers in the end definitely were decreasing, but the century may have been different (ie. 24 vs. 22) But it doesn't even matter. This storm pushes ships through space and time. Who's to say it didn't get another swift kick right at the end? My initial theory was that he simply landed back on the same planet in its future, but his leaving caused the fairy tales and legends to distort the truth of the past again. So, thus then, he fucked up the planet's history twice! But, Thade's alive and a main character, so if there's a sequel, he's probably involved somehow... I did find an actual mistake, though. When he's flying back, it's in Alpha pod, but one camera switch has him in Delta pod. Minor, I know. "The hardest thing in life is living it."

I did notice the Apes getting high. And here's a fan-made timeline of POTA pretty much assuming that Thade went back in time. Psychopath Registered: Nov. 00 | Having not seen Planet of the Apes, I cant comment on it. But to the point that you have to think to understand it, thats good if after you think about it, it makes some sense. Good sci-fi makes you think in a "Hmm, Ive never thought about the implications of that on society" kind of way not necessarily in a "Damn, that makes no fucking sense!" kind of way. In fact, Id argue that if a sci-fi movie makes you say "That makes no sense" too many times, its not a good sci-fi movie. And any movie where you have to make up an elaborate scenerio to explain, well, I dont think thats necessarily a great movie. Couldnt they have had a scene where Thade gets out and finds another pod or something to clarify it a bit? Also, I hate movies that have twist endings just for the sake of a twist ending. Planet of the Apes had one of the greatest twist endings of all time, so they HAD to have a twist in the remake, since everyone was expecting some kind of twist. Forcing an ending on a movie just because its supposed to have that kind of ending will always come off as lame.

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | The makeup and visual effects, as well as a mindset of escapism, helped me through this movie. Also, my wife had an ultimate one-liner: When Thade loses it after the humans steal the horses and ride across the river, she leans over and says, "I guess that's what they mean about going APE-SHIT!" Sometimes, she's a goof, but this time my wife was pure comic gold. And, without bearing her funbags, Estella Warren should not be in a movie. And only Dirk Diggler should have spoken. And Marky-Mark can't play anything but Dirk Diggler, which makes his character implausable. The whole fucking ship would have left him out in the storm when he went after Pereclese the monkey. Will I see the sequel? Probably. Did the ending make sense? No, but it was sooooo fucking wide open that you can see almost 100 posts in this thread speculating what they meant. What they meant was that, like Batman, Tim Burton was saddled with a hack script and several interested producers and other movie execs that wanted to see this or that... the only tangible item was the love triangle between Estella Bigtits, Marky-Mark and HBC (Helena Bonham-Carter, for those of you who don't have the "Figth Club" DVD). Oh, and Tim Roth was the shit in this movie, but these small details did not make up for the investment. The movie was made for the lowest common denominator - period. And for all those bigoted comments (Mark Jackson, Afrika, going to Harlem): DINGDINGDINGDINGDINGDING!!!! Narrator: "I STILL can't think of anything." Tyler: "Flashback humor, how amusing."
