You'd think that you would have read into it, instead of taking it so personnaly. quote: Talk about uneducated posting. Of course all this is true, but one lose doesn't end a dynasty. By this definition, The yanks should have never come back after the 1997 defeat. The team will be different yes. But the Nucleus of the team will still be around.

Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | Well I can honestly say....I've seen it all. I've seen the yankees 2 outs away from loosing games only to comeback in dramatic fashion to win them. And I've seen the best in the game get beat. Well, thats the only way the Dbacks were gonna win and they did. As much as I'm pissed off, you gotta just grin and bear it. This was a awesome series... And as far as this Giambi stuff, I would take Tino over him in a heartbeat. That guy came in here in 96 and filled the biggest pair of shoes. Sure he's hit average, but the last 2 years the guy has gotten some of the biggest hits regular season and post season. And do we need to even talk about his defense at first base??? I hope the yankees can sign him, in my mind theres no better. VOS IS ABOUT AS FUNNY AS OPENING A LETTER CONTAINING ANTHRAX AND GIVING IT YOUR BABY!!!

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | quote: WHAT???? I'm giving the D'Backs their props. They were unquestionably the better team. BUT I AM SICK AND FUCKING TIRED OF YOU MET FANS STRUTTING AROUND LIKE YOU WON SOMETHING!!!!! Your team lost and was NEVER in it. They lost their best pitcher from the year before (Hampton), and their second best hitter basically was AWOL all season because of injury (Alfonso). They suck. The Yankees, on the other hand, are the second best team in the league this year. I'm giving props to ONE team, the rest can kiss my ass, because the Yankees are better. The fact is the Mets fans are jealous. Mets fans would act the same way if their team won 4 championships in the last 6 years. Don't go around like your shit don't stink. If Mets fans had the opportunity, they would act just as arrogant and boastful as Yankee fans do. You just can't. This message was edited by Leaking Nipples on 11-5-01 @ 7:01 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | snot, In the famous words of Emily Littella, "Never Mind" :) LN, I've tried very hard not to paint all Yankee fans with the same brush. I've given my apologies to sheetbag & teenweek when they showed they were more than blowhards. Don't paint all met fans the way your "friends" act. No, (All) Met fans are not jealous. I've said here hundreds of times I've rooted for the Yankees (in 96 & 98), and I've even been to Yankee playoff games. I'm old enough to remember when the Yankees SUCKED; even when Mets were good. I did not rip Yankees then. They are not Mets rivals. Real fans show some class. As I said before, if you want to give the crap, be willing to take it. This issue has nothing to do with the Mets - Grow up.

Psychopath Registered: Mar. 01 | PeterDragon, I know you wouldn't believe me with the way I've been acting the last few days, but I rarely talk trash. I'm not going around before and during the regular season acting like the Yankees winning the series is a given. I just hate having people act like the Yankees season was a complete and total failure because they didn't win. They went down like champions. They fought to the final inning. And yet I have people all over the place saying the Yankees suck. Mets fan, Red Sox's fans, Twins fans, EVEN THE GUY WHO LIKES THE EXPOS!!!! And yet, the Yankees are better than all of those teams this season. It's really frustrating, in the first 24 hours after it all ended. Either way, I'll take season's like this one over the ones when I had to watch the likes of Andy Hawkins, Jesse Barfield, Kevin Maas, and Andy Stankowicz in pinstripes. Watching a series like this, and knowing your team is involved, even on the losing side, really makes you appreciate baseball. Despite some more annoying fans.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | LN, fair enough. Hey, How bout the way that Chicken Stanley turned the double play? :) Seriously, This yankee team is hard to hate. They really play good, professional ball. While I'd still say Arod is better, Jeter is definitely a great player; Arod vs Jeter is this generations Ted Williams vs. Joe Dimaggio. Now lets all join together and make fun of Red Sox fans :P :)

Psychopath Registered: Sep. 01 | Well a couple of days have passed since the Series ended on a sad note for some of us. First and foremost for those who say well the yankees had a good run and this wasnt their year to win, I say PHOOEY to u. To me the Yankees should have won, there is no making excuses here, they got beat. However this brings me to my whole point here. Kudos to the D-backs. They beat the Yankees the only way that seemed impossible, and thats by beating Rivera, in the bottom of then ninth when the Yankees had the lead. For this reason I guess I am not about to slice my wrist after the loss. If game 7 had been a repeat of game 6 then things might be diffrent. U see, the way it happend was the D-backs were forced to beat the best, and I am not just refering to the Yankees But to the best closer in post season history. He converted 23 or so saves without even breaking a sweat sometimes. This is what champions are all about. So I give them the credit they deserve eventhough I am still pissed off that the Yankees didnt win. With that said, I will have to say thanks to those Yankees haters who took it relativly easy on me. I know at times I came on strong with my PRO-YANKEES attitude as well as my hatred for the mets. However I think i am definatly in for a long winter as many people have 4 years of yankee hatered to release now... Even with the changes that are going to take place within the Yankee organization I look for them to be number one next year. They are gonna do a little rebuilding and yes, they will spend the money to make this happen. possible changes gone O'Neil (pretty much definate) Brousis (torre said on the radio he is pretty much done as a yankee) Martinez (i hope not) Orlando (could go either way) Knoblauch (can do without him) Justice (JACKASS) As for the players they may get to replace them, i have heard all sorts of names like, Giambi, Bonds, Shefield, etc... I dont think the yankees are gonna go for Giambi, he would be a good catch, but the Yankees are really not about a superstar to be singled out here. They play thier best as a TEAM. Would any of the names mentioned above be good for the yankees YES, but overall i think it would hurt their overall team unity. Well hats off to the D-backs once again, and I look foward to the moves that are to be made in the off season. the lineup i would like to see for next year 1b-martinez 2b-sorriano ss-jeter 3b-Scott Roland (maybe a short deal, then trade him once henson is ready to come up.) cather-Posada LF Spencer CF Bernie RF Vlad Guerreo Pitching Rotation Clemens Peitte Mussina Pedro (long shot)claims he wont stay in boston unless the bickering stops Wells--**** bring him back to NY Bullpen pretty much stays the same, maybe pickup one middle guy to go with stanton, mendoza,.. maybe though it is time for hitchcok to make the move to the pen, he did well relieveing in the WS. lets all count the days to to spring training. OH YEA THE RED SOX SUCK!!!!!!!!! This message was edited by sheetbag on 11-6-01 @ 10:23 PM

O&A Board Regular Registered: Jan. 01 | Sheet, No one here would ever say anything negative ! :) Yankee moves will be interesting for several reasons, not the least of which is that it may cause domino effect. Vlad will not be a Yankee this year. I suspect that there will be contraction, but there are too many complications. Giambi - possible. He wants to be in pinstripes, and he is a quality person, which goes along with the new Yankee tradition. However, it blocks Nick Johnson, and compromises Yankee defense. Scott Rolen - as much as I hate to say it, this is probably best possibility, although it would cost a lot in terms of prospects. Pedro - It would be a miracle, although I never would have thought Clemens would pitch in the big ball yard in the Bronx. It will be a very interesting off season indeed.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | The NY Post is reporting that the yankees are loking to trade for Roberto Alomar or sign Bret Boone as a free agent and move Soriano to left. They also say it looks, that Wells will be a Yankee because Steinbrenner loves him.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | Very funny jackass. say what you want about the post. They have the best sports section in New York. November 7, 2001 -- Jason Giambi is an option to cure the Yankees' hitting ills. He isn't an end-all to the sweeping changes the club is expected to make after being dethroned as World Series champions. The Post has learned the Yankees want to shift Alfonso Soriano to left field and deal for Cleveland's Roberto Alomar or sign Seattle free agent Bret Boone to replace Soriano at second base. With the Indians looking to dump salary, the 33-year-old Alomar is on the block and has the Yankees' attention. The Rangers, who just signed former Tribe GM John Hart to that position in Texas, are also looking at ways to get Alomar, a player who won't come cheap. "They are looking for a pitcher ready to pitch in the big leagues and one good position player," a source said of the Indians, who will start by asking for Soriano and be denied. Having dealt David Justice to the Yankees last year, the Tribe knows the Yankees' minor league system. However, the Yankees don't have a big league pitcher to part with unless they finally give up Ramiro Mendoza, a Joe Torre favorite. Minor-league pitching prospects Brandon Claussen, Alex Graman and outfield prospects Juan Rivera and Marcus Thames interest a lot of teams. Shane Spencer might interest the Indians, who are looking for outfielders. Ted Lilly could be in the mix. The Indians are keeping Jim Thome so they don't need Nick Johnson. Alomar is signed for $8 million next year and there is an $8 million option for 2003 or a $2 million buyout. At those prices, the switch-hitting borderline Hall of Fame candidateis a steal compared to what the 32-year-old Boone might command coming off what was easily the best year of his 10 big league seasons. "One year arbitration," an AL scout said of Boone batting .331 with 37 homers and a league-leading 141 RBIs. Boone will likely seek a five-year deal and could command as much as $8 million a year after making $3.25 this past season. Reached yesterday by The Post, Alomar refused to comment on being dealt. However, he did briefly address the Yankees' interest. "It's flattering," said Alomar, who hit .336 with 20 homers, 100 RBIs and had an on-base percentage of .415, which would have led the Yankees this past season. As for moving Soriano to left, the position he started playing this past spring, Torre has no reservations. "I wouldn't be afraid to put him anywhere," Torre said of Soriano.

Would Soriano be good in left? If we aren't going to go out and get a new left fielder, Spencer or Bellinger seems like a better choice to me. But hey what the hell do I know? i can't believe my dream is over i woke up this morning with nothing but light in my eyes now i'm one with the fools of love Psst...I know...you don't have to wear a dress anymore...but I still think there might be other things I want that I can have... ;) USA

I actually love that paper, but there is a fine line between the post and the enquirer on some items... :) I would love to see wells back in NY... as for the rest, well I really dont like Giambi, and Alomar is a turd in my book, but I also hated Clemens at once so hey if they become yankees then so be it. Lets hope cashman and torre get thier deals done soon so we can start getting these players. I also heard Cashman on the radio today, saying they are giving orlando arbitration so it looks like he is probably staying. Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | as far as moves for the next year, there could be a whole new set of moves if two teams get relinqueshed. If montreal is one of them I would love to see the yankees try to make a deal for Vlad Guerrerro. But we'll have to wait and see. Scott Rolen - Doubt that's gonna happen. The phillies aren't going to let him go unless somebody is willing to trade a big name for him. Giambi - The more and more I listen, it seems that the high yankee officials, like george and others want him, but the coaches and players want to re-sign Tino. Brosius - He's gone. He didn't even fly home with the team after the series. He flew to oregon to be with his family, as much as I loved the way he played, he's most likely gone. Darren Erstad - Good outfielder, decent hitter. Had an off year, but a real nice fit for the yankees. Probably have to trade for him, but we'll see. David Wells - Even if the guy comes here and is a bust, it's the boomer. You gotta love him. I think he'll be here, he loves the bronx. If he comes here he'll probably be great.
