Call your local Congressman or City Council representative to get the Statue to stay the way it is. I work for the Fire Department and was working Sept 11th and I am disgusted that they rolled over to the PC crowd. | O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I think it is complete bullshit. I agree with most people. Make the statue as it happened. If they don't, why even put a white guy in the statue. Change it completely and have the black and puerto rican guy and add a white women. This way all the minority and feminist organizations will be happy. Could anyone imagine how Al Sharpton would react if it was 3 black guys in the photo and they wanted to a add a white and a puerto rican. Would never ever happen. No justice no peace. Down with the white man. The statue would be 3 black guys and no questions would be asked. Our politically correct society sucks. I heard a good idea for a staute with other minorites, women etc. It was have differnet people digging through the rubble to find their fallen brothers. That would be a perfect tribute to put anyone's face on it.  | ||||

If it was 2001 and there were minorities on Iwo Jima, I'm sure they would have been put in the picture. It's a statue honoring all those that died in the FDNY and I don't see why it's such an issue. It's so blown out of proportion. If you want an accurate representation of the "actual" event, buy the picture. It's a beautiful and moving gesture to create the statue and it dismays me to think that people on both sides of the issue need to mar the moment by insisting on arguing. Plus, it's a bronze statue, so how exactly do they plan to depict skin color? | ||||

| Hanger-On Registered: Jan. 02 | WASP's, Guineas, Chinks, Kykes, Moolies, Wetbacks, Slopes, Micks, and Spics....They were all in the building, however the picture is of 3 Heroic "WHITE" fireman...Not "African American" (which is a whole other complaint, cause less than 1% of them are african), not Asian, nor Hispanic, but WHITE MALES, and that is what the statue should be. END OF STATEMENT.....GO HOME! | ||||

The amount of pride that I felt for the Police, Fire and EMS that put themselves in danger to help people that they didn't even know. We can thank all the Mexican,Black and Asian emergency personal that helped along with the WHITE men that put up the flag..Why do the RED DIAPER DOPER BABIES of the world have to make this about race? Its easy..If they didn't get put up on the staute then they would sue everyone possible and that would not help anyone...Why dont they just put aup a statue of John Walker right up in time square..and change the statuer of liberty face to OBL's...Please are clearly sick and I agree with the caller who said "make them all green"...anyway..thats it..I am OUT! | ||||

Fuck political correctness, although I do understand the change in the statue. The photo, and consequently the statue, are supposed to merely represent all firefighters and the bravery exhibited on that day, not be a monument to these three men. But again, I do feel that the statue should be in the photo's likeness, and it would be wrong to disturb that. "Now listen Ralph, as long as we're neighbors, you don't have to call me Norton...
