I know most of you have never heard Steve Dahl on
a radio; waaaay old school. In my formative
years in Chicago, he was the best. I always like
to say he helped me get laid.:)

I'm glad he's hangin' out today...it brings back
lots of good memories.

I hope the relationship between these radio
personalities is a good one.

BTW, one of the funniest things I've seen on the
internet is a guy with the screen name of
"Jewdown" posting on the Dahl message board. :-D

Maybe Opie and Anthony would like Steve Dahl even more if they knew how this man used to torment Donnie Geronimo a couple decades ago.

Maybe move to middays in Chicago, get syndicated in middays in NYC. Have R&F stay in evenings (the 2 shows R&F are doing is just temporary). Put O&A on live in afternoons in Chicago.

If we've all learned a lesson over the last two monthes it would be: Never give up (I use that very loosely) your Afternoon drive slot for NYC syndication.

True. D & M will never recover from that.
Not fully, and every D & M fan knows that.

Having said that, I think Mr. Dahl would be making
a mistake if he went for syndication (don't think
he's not thinking about it as one last hurrah,
'cause he is...you heard them). He's soooooo
Chicago...do you (NYC listener) want to hear
that?

I guess the only other "heavy" (no pun intended
when that thought came to mind)) who might join
'NEW is Brother Weeze. Well, I'll sum up and
just say I'd certainly listen no matter what the
"Triad of Evil" comes up with...

;) ;)

FWIW, someone called in and asked if Dahl was there for the vacant midday shift (syndicated or otherwise). Opie laughed it off, and explained to Dahl that anyone who ever worked in radio was going to be speculated for the slot.

So unless they are pulling a red herring, Dahl is not planning on being syndicated in that slot.

2002 Crack Committee Objectives: (modified version)(You gotta try and believe....)
1.Hate the Braves with PASSION and extreme prejudice
1a. Try and go a week without having to punch a wall in frustration after watching the Mets play
2. 90 Wins and somehow get the Mets into playoffs this year
3. All 5 Starters have winning records this year
3a.Have team understand it is OK to get a hit with runners on base.
4. Mets win World Series (after divine intervention)

I cant stand Steve Dahl. I live in chicago and would love it if he was no longer on air and O&A took over his time slot.

Steve Dahl's an institution in Chicago -- no way WCKG would ever bump him for O&A. The backlash would would be insane. As far as syndication to NY...Dahl's been doing his show in Chicago for over 20 years, and if he really wanted syndication, he would have gotten it by now. His show is sooo Chicago-based, and he's happy where he is.

He was syndicated for a little bit awhile back. He pulled the plug because he got pissed off. I forgot the exact reasons though.

Dahl was on O&A yesterday? Holy shit. Never thought I'd see that happen. Anyway, the big crticism of Dahl's show these days in the very frequent dead air pauses. You could go as long as 15 secs without hearing ANYTHING. It happens quite often. I sometimes still like to listen to him though. But yes, Steve Dahl is TOTALLY Chicago. Always will be, but I don't think that matters. He pulled his syndication to Detroit a few years ago because the other on air staff was making fun of him. Dahl is the qunintessential "Can dish it out, but can't take it" guy. If he comes to NEW, he'll probably end up sueing O&A like he does everyone else. By the way he's also a four hundred pound raging alcoholic. One of the things I like about him.

P.S. His wife is his manager/attorney, and she's a bitch on wheels. One of those broads who thinks she knows what good for her husband's career, and sues anyone who gets in their way. They jusy got done sueing MANQUEER, among many others. But he deserved it, because he's a phony, pussy, liar.

Just a little background. I grew up listening to Dahl so I know quite a bit about him. He first gained national notoriety for a song parody about serial killer John Wayne Gacy. After the police had found 33 bodies in the crawl space under his house, Dahl wrote a parody to Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall", titled, "Another Kid In the Crawl" Pretty edgy for 1980.

Can you help FANDICK find his name?

Wow, I'm bummed that I missed the ol' Stever, but had to pay the rent. I grew up near Chicago too, and have been a fan since his first days on WLUP. He's a hoot. And it would be a scream to hear his stories of the a-- who is no longer polluting NY radio, hehehe!

Was it a long conversation? What did they talk about?

Does Steve still have a problem with the bottle? I thought he kicked the habit (or at least tapered back a lot!) several years ago?

Janet (Steve's wife) does keep him on a short chain, but at least she's rather funny--and not like that insufferable FRIEDA!!!!!! What a pill!!!!! And hopefully BooBoo will never be heard on the airwaves in NYC again!!!!

He did kick the bottle and the other drug problems that he had. It is a good thing and a bad thing because when he would go on the air drunk/high it would make for some great radio. I think that he's been clean for about seven years. And as for the lawsuits, he has only sued Mancow to my knowledge for calling his wife a whore and a slut on the air. Mancow and him have had a long fued. When Steve got off the coke Mancow even mailed him a powdery substance.

Supposedly he stopped by reading a book that a former alcoholic wrote and about how getting a dog helped her stay sober. (I think I'll just keep drinking, thanks! Just Joking!)

Yeah, do you remember some of his escapades when Jimmy Webb would come to town? Did Jimmy & Steve ever get married? :)

I would imagine that Steve is a bit happier practicing moderation. It must get rather old to always be greeted by Janet with the frying pan in the wee hours! Cheers!

Oh boy, I'm replying to my own post! Is that allowed?! :)

But talk about cringe radio, do you remember when Steve and Garry ended their illustrious partnership? Wow, what classic radio! I'll never forget Steve going on the air the first day after Garry's wedding and giving the whole scoop on what happened. I don't think Steve and Mrs. Garry Meier got along too well, hehehe!

Steve Dahl is one of those Djs that you can enjoy almost anytime.
It's a shame that he doesn't broadcast here, he'd get quite the ratings, and he would be more entertaining too.

yea, He has calmed down on the drinking a lot. And I said Manqueer did deserve to be sued. I've always liked Dahl because I listened when I was little. It's the type of show that can put you in a trance. If he does come to New York, you'll surely know where the best restaurants in town are.

Can you help FANDICK find his name?

Yeah, I think that NY listeners would dig him. He's very Chicago, but very funny and altho he isn't the "master impressionist" that Anthony is, he does (or did) a couple of characters.

Hell, sure beats listening to Don and Mike, but of course, a spider monkey farting on a snare drum is more entertaining than them two pig fuckers anyway.

Agreed. And the thing that was always so nauseating about them is how funny they thought they were--ugghh! Good riddance!

Quote: Manqueer did deserve to be sued.

I've never heard his show, but have heard that he's an idiot and that he was being sued by J. Dahl. Ha, she won? Good for her.
My sister jokes that she far prefers listening to Radio Edit in the morning rather than Mancow which seems to indicate that he's not too high on the entertainment ladder.

Thanks for the info everyone. I haven't heard him
live since '85.

If anyone could e-mail me the numbers I need to
plug into Winamp to listen, I would be grateful.
And yes, I've been to Dahl.com and I've fucking
searched Live365! My e-mail is in my
