O&A Board Regular Registered: Oct. 00 | I am NOT a fan of this bastardized cross breeding shit that you call music. You are either Rock or you are Rap. You are either Black Sabbath or you are RUN-DMC. No mixing. And I listen to WNEW exclusively because I can't stand any new music, with the exception of Tool. When Undertow came out was about the time I turned the radio off. "I use you for good board I'm not your friend" Guided by Dryblood.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | The lyrics from Cowboy are:quote: I personaly love the Kid, I've seen him 3 times and he's one of the better performers out there. More Kid rock/O&A trivia; Kid rock opens his shows with the unedited version of "The Many Uses of the Word Fuck" that they play most FU Friday's. Although most of the general public has been led to believe Mr. Brownstone is about some of the band members' heroin addictions (mainly from the disinformation provided by the band in order to garner street cred), the song is actually about Mr. Frank Brownstone, the head instructor at the Arthur Murray Dance Studios in Los Angeles. In the late 80s, Rose was a student of Brownstone's (who do you think taught Rose his snakelike hip-swiveling?). Apparently, Rose did not pay Brownstone for the lessons. This song is about Brownstone's constant, yet futile, attempts at reimbursement.

O&A Board Regular Registered: Dec. 00 | Hip-hop refers to the music, rap refers to the vocals. I believe hip-hop predates rap by a few years, but I'm not sure on that. Psychopath Registered: Oct. 00 | If "Sloatsburgh" is still checking this to get his answer, the RADIO EDIT in the song is part of the song for radio airplay...it replaces "suck my dick". And, that is where O&A got the idea for referring to Stern as RADIO EDIT to not get the segment dumped out of, but so we would all know who they were talking about. Since the intro songs used to always give you a hint who they were going to fuck with at the opening of the show, when I heard that yesterday I thought that meant Stern was in the news and they were going to tool on him for a little while. But I guess Ben just felt like hearing Kid Rock yesterday. Quoth the Yambag...Nicey, Nice

Psychopath Registered: Aug. 00 | it says "Radio Edit" on the album also, the only time he says what i guess is supposed to be there is live, and the lines go's "My only words of wisdom, Suck My Dick" A man lies in his bed in a room with no door He waits, hoping for a presence, something, anything to enter After spending half his life searching He still felt as blank as the ceiling at which he stared He is alive, but feels absolutely nothing, so is he? :)Official UN-Official Newbie father to radio-star and Claire:)

Psychopath Registered: Feb. 01 | The *Radio Edit* clip you hear when they goof on Stern is directly from that Kid Rock song. Where Kid Rock sampled that clip from, I don't know. As far as mixing genre's, personally I have a pretty eclectic taste in music so I love to hear new permutations through the mixing of genres. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt, but as much as I love straight ahead rock and roll, music would be pretty boring if musicians didnt diversify themselves. There would be no Chuck Berry, no Elvis, no Jimi Hendrix, no Doors, no Rolling Stones, etc... etc.. if musicians kept playing the same style of music. I think hip hop is greatest new form of music created in the past 25 years, yes its been around that long if not longer and its not going anywhere. The fact that many rock artist have been merging rock with hip-hop since the early days of RUN-DMC/Aerosmith and even before that just shows how influential it has been. ________________ Charcole brickette?
