| Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | They may just be dragging their heels to see what Philadelphia's WYSP numbers are like (they are a "rock" station who has Howard on in the mornings and O&A on live in the afternoon). There's no need for them to pussy out though, the show will do well AND it's already got a following in Boston. It's fucking pure gold - why drag their heels? | Psychopath Registered: Jun. 01 | WYSP's numbers have no bearing on this decision. BCN knows that they will have awesome numbers with OandA. They are trying to play hardball because they do not want to lose their Rock and Roll and they are trying to get the boys to agree to a split delay so they can insert music. Sort of like what one of RandF's stations does. They get awesome ratings at BCN with their current lineup and when you are the Number One station there is some reluctance to make ANY changes. Personal opinion is that they will NOT end up on BCN, unless they decide to make a serious commitment to the boys, because OediPUS is a moron who wants to tamper with the show too much because he wants his Rawk Blawks!  | ||||

| O&A Board Veteran Registered: Jan. 01 | Damn Bostonians(Boston Fan) cant do anything right!!! The clock is running down on WBCN-FM's option to pick up Opie & Anthony's new syndicated X-treme talk show. So it appears Boston's former bad boys of blab may find themselves either headed to their old station, WAAF-FM, or following their ex-'AAF boss to WFNX-FM! ``We want to be on 'BCN,'' Opie told the Track. ``But quite frankly, they don't get what we do. They don't know how to sell us because of their illustrious rock heritage.'' Opie & Anthony's racy afternoon drive show is syndicated out of WNEW-FM in New York. Which is where the boys landed when they were run out of town three years ago after announcing Mayor Tom Menino died in an April Fool's prank that tanked. According to the bad boys, WBCN, which like WNEW is owned by Infinity Broadcasting, was given 90 days to exercise their Opie option. And ``they're on day 61,'' said the New York shock jock. Which for the moment, at least puts to rest rumors kicking around late last week that 'BCN was going to start airing Opie & Anthony's schtick this afternoon. But while Oedipus & Company are dragging their feet in Boston, stations in Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Sacramento and a couple of Midwestern hubs have hopped aboard the O & A train. The duo's multimillion-dollar syndication deal is for 22 stations in the 50 top markets to air the show. ``We think we are the future of 'BCN,'' said Opie, who had nothing but nasty words for the station when they were rivals at 'AAF. ``We will kick some (bleep).'' 'BCN brass Oedipus and Tony Beradini were unavailable for comment but station sources told us management is still in mull mode. After all, there is that ``illustrious rock heritage'' thing to consider: 'BCN prides itself on being the Rock of Boston. But is it ready to be the Talk of Boston? Ubershock jock Howard Stern's already in place in the morning, but if the station signed on with Op and Ant, the music would be relegated to middays and nights - not exactly prime listening hours. Meanwhile, Opie said their people have had discussions with WAAF's people. And we hear they have been talking to ex-'AAF General Manager Bruce Mittman - the man pressured to send them packing after the death debacle - who is now calling the shots at 'FNX. However, I understand how BCN would be taking a SERIOUS risk by changing their number 1 format... but a bigger risk if they let the wolf cubs go elsewhere. It's a hard situation. Personally, nothing would make me happier than their being on FNX and hearing Bruce Mittman daily. [Bruce voice]Boys,... boys,... lay off the schwuggies today, boys.
